You are mistaken, Jesus says to kill several times. You must never have actually read it. It is a well known fact that the disciples were great sword fighters.

What kind of ridiculous answers are some people giving you? Vegetables are alive too!! Yes they are alive but they don't have pain like animals. Oh look! There's a cucumber running away trying in vain to save it's life. I have often pondered the very same thing that you are asking. Why Christians eat dead animals is beacuse of this...in the Bible it is said that God gave man dominion to rule over the earth. This itself implies that man should not see himself as one with nature, unlike Hinduism which teaches that God is present in all living things. So if God gave our parents dominion to rule over us, does it mean that they can kill and eat us? The poor animals, trying to guard their bodies. What is a meal for someone is life itself for some animal. God didn't even intend for people to eat animals. Our digestive tract is much shorter than a carnivore's. Plus we don't have fangs to kill and eat an animal alive. Do people salivate when they see a live chicken? Humans are the only animals who use weapons to kill animals and then have to cook them before they eat them. Many people who eat meat won't even be able to kill an animal.

Oh brother. In the beginning of the good book aka the bible God gave Adam reign over the animals, at one point God even gave the Israelites Quail to eat so then it must not be against the law to "kill" animals. NOW, Thou shalt not MURDER is in there and I believe that it applies to people not to the animals Dr. Doolittle. BUT, don't get slap happy and start slaughtering animals just because you don't care about them. I also think that it would be outta necessity, but you did see people killing lambs and such for sacrifices to God in the bible too so - go figure.

Chritianity was born in a desert land besides all hindus are not vegetarians.Even in the Mahahbharta there are mentions of arjuna hunting wild boars.And the real meaning of "thou should not kill"is not to kill fellow human beings.All religions eat non-veg food execept jains.

Questions about Jesus, or Questions designed to convert or recruit people to Jesus are simply a waste of time. People have already decided for the most part if they believe in the fiction written in the bible. People who feel God talks to them have psychological problems because hearing voices is a psychological illness. %-}

It was Moses. But it is a relevant question. Many vegans point at Genesis 1 : 29-30
29 God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food.
30 To every animal of the earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food;" and it was so.

Since he ate meat, I rather think he was talking about humans. Since the time of the great flood, lower form animals have been used as food, by instruction of God. Prior to that, there is not record that animals were ate.

Jesus never said that. Stop putting words in his mouth.
Also the 10 commandments do not say that.
The proper translation is Thou shalt not murder.

Jesus didn't say that. That's from the Old Testament, which was written hundreds of years before Jesus was born. Besides, it wasn't talking about animals--it was talking about people. And even then, it was talking about people who believed in their god. Basically, "thou shalt not kill thine own people but thou canst smite mine enemies into tiny bits in my mercy."

He also said." Covet not thy neighbour's wife" . And then, there are all the ten commandments! If all the people' lived' their religions, It would have been a different world_ a Paradise on Earth. MAN has turned it into a virtual Hell.
