My cousin has a recipe for a cake which she makes for parties sometimes, but a lot of people don't like it. Once she made 2 different cakes, and I told her the other one tasted better (which it did.) The one she usually makes has walnuts in it, and I told her that they give it a bitter taste but I wasn't straight up about it. I beat around the bush a little bit, and she still puts walnuts in it. Once she made the cake without the walnuts because she ran out, and it tasted a lot better. It didn't taste bad at all, it was really good. She's very sensitive and I don't want to hurt her feelings. Should I say something?

Well yes, I can easily not eat the cake. That is not a problem at all. But a lot of people don't eat it, and there's a lot left over, so I don't want her to get hurt and feel like nobody took something that she worked so hard on.

If you and your cousin are really close sit her down and tell her the truth as gently as possible. Start out your conversation with you know i love you and so do all of your friends and what i have to say too you will not change any of that but i have to be honest with you because i do love you. And go from there. I hope that this helps you.

I make a Walnut sponge cake that takes me all day to make. I understand that some people dont care for it but my family really loves it. If you dont care for the cake perhaps you could make one or ask another guess to make a different desert. There is nothing wrong with having more than one desert. The only other way would be to have a cover-dish party where you state what to bring to all invited and ask her to bring a side dish instead of desert. The coverdish party was intented to bring your favorate dish and in this case i will bet she loves the cake and doesnt make it very often unless theres a party to bring it to. Good Luck!!!!

Sometimes if you buy walnuts that are old they will taste bitter. I say tell her straight out. If you're out at the market buy her a pack of fresh walnuts and ask her if she will make her "famous" cake for you. If it tastes bad then let her know next time do it without the nuts.

suggest to her trying something new like keeping the walnuts out or ask her if she's ever wondered what the cake would taste like without the walnuts say you never know it might taste better..1

Yes, be straightforward not being rude, tell her with an example of your own and she might understand that people dislike her usual cake but love the cake with no walnuts on it.

The world can be a cruel place and she need to learn to deal with disappointments and failures.

Drop the cake on the floor at her feet.

No, seriously. Just tell her straight up.

She will never know if you don't tell her... You may be able to tell her as a friend and family member and not hurt her feelings.. Lot better than a stranger form a party coming up to her and saying it tasted like crap...
