The One True God identifies Himself through the Bible, as the Creator and by His Name YHVH - the Eternal Most High. As omnipresent Spirit, YHVH manifested Himself in a human Body, born from an Israelite woman by miraculous Divine Insemination, to experience human life at first-hand and to succeed in perfect human nature. In this form, as 'Messiah ben Yosef', God provided Himself as the 'Unblemished Sacrifice' and paid with His Human Life for the reconciliation of 'His lost sheep' with His Covenant. When YHVH died on the Stake as a Man, most brutally murdered by His own Creation, His Spirit never died (for it lives eternally) and in Spirit He was still Omni-presently present throughout the Universe! Thus Messiah could say: "Break down this Temple, and in 3 days I will resurrect it again!" - How would this be done? - through His omnipresent Eternal Spirit. God is eternally ONE.
Isaiah 9:6 is one of the most powerful proofs that Jesus is God: "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father The Prince of Peace."
Isaiah 35:4-6 shows that Jesus is God: "Behold, your God… he will come and save you." This passage goes on to say that when God comes the eyes of the blind would be opened, the ears of the deaf would be unstopped, the lame would leap, and the tongue of the dumb would speak. Jesus applied this passage of Scripture to Himself (Luke 7:22) and, of course, His ministry did produce all of these things. Paul described Jesus as "the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:13; NIV has "our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ"). According to Acts 20:28, the church was purchased with God's own blood, namely the blood of Jesus.Jesus is "the image of the invisible God" (Colossians 1:15; II Corinthians 4:4).
Many verses of Scripture declare Jesus Christ to be the God of the Old Testament robed in flesh for the purpose of self-revelation and reconciliation.

Amen sister! And to those who feel that Christians, Jews and Muslims pray to the same God, I beg to differ.

The only remote similarities between Islam and Christianity is that they are monotheistic, and claim Abraham as a patriarch. Any other similarities are at best superficial. The differences outweigh the similarities.

An example:

In Islam, the Qur'an states rather clearly, "Proclaim: Allah is One. Allah is Eternal. He neither begets nor was begotten." (Surah 112:1-4)

In Christianity, we believe that Jesus was begotten. (John 1:14) Jesus clearly states that He is God: "Truly, truly I tell you, before there was an Abraham, I am!" (John 8:58) Naturally, there are many other examples I could use, but it wouldn't really help.

Now, we have a conundrum. Either Islam is right, and Jesus is not God, nor begotten; or Christianity is right, and Jesus is God, and is begotten. We can't have it both ways. Islam will never hold to a belief that Jesus is God. And Christians will not accept that Jesus is not God, and is not begotten. Therefore, they do not worship the same God.

Well...

Quoting your bible offers no proof to me as to the existence of your fairly narrow definition of God.

I have used to own experience as a human being to come to my own conclusions about the nature of the universe, and what it is to be alive. My morals are rooted in some basic principles that are held together by some pretty solid logic.

My philosophy has been influenced by so many things in the world... but it is still mine alone... all put together in a way that makes sense to me.

I have no convoluted and vague bible. The word I follow is simple and obvious.

In response to the TRINITY answer.

Father (God) Son (Jesus) and Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost which makes us the bride of Christ)

You say this is 3 separate entities.

So does that make me 3 entities too as I am a Father, I am a son, and I am a husband?

"God" or "Jesus" or "Mohammed" or "E=Meter" or any other kind of religion is very subjective. There is no point in trying to convince any one else of a religious thought. Religion is by nature not interested in facts, it is interested in faith. Therefore, the entire concept of discussing religion is moot. That is why there is no answer to your question. ;-)

It's all nonsense. You can't use the bible to prove the bible. That's cirular reasoning. You need independent sources.

First you have to prove that there is god.
Then you have to prove that the god is YOUR god.
Then you have to prove that the bible is the word of YOUR god.

If you can't do that, all the little details are irrelevant.
