I sympathize with those who haven't had the best father in the world. I know about those kind first hand. But I was thinking that we hardly ever hear about those people in the world with a good father. Believe it or not, they are out there.

So those of you who have a damn good father or know of one, please share about them.

Growing up I know I never looked at either of my parents as good parents. Yet I was a rebellious teen then too. Looking back now, as I'm older, and much more mature, they were both VERY good parents, and my dad has now become more than just a father to me, but even more like a best friend. It's an amazing feeling, and even more so, I don't think it ever could have happened until I matured to allow it to happen.

I look at myself as being a good father as well, and I am told this by those who know me, and have seen my interactions with my daughter. I sometimes hope that I can only be half the father to my own daughter that my own dad has been to me.

Can I brag a bit about my husband? I think he is a great Dad. We have three girls and he is very involved with what they do on a daily basis. He helps with all the math and science homework, he is an official Girl Scout USA volunteer, he assistant coaches every team my girls have ever been involved with (so far softball, soccer and basketball), he takes the girls to dance classes when my schedule gets too full (and we are at the dance studio 4 times a week!) he takes their dogs out every morning...and kisses them (our girls, not the dogs!) goodnight every night. He has sat in hot auditoriums for dance recitals and take all three to Me & My Guy girl scout camp. He has diapered and burped and been thrown up on...he was there at birth (all three C-sections) and was the first to hold our babies. He has NEVER spanked one of our girls or raised a fist to me. He doesn't drink or fool around. He is not perfact...he leaves his dirty socks on the living room floor and hates to empty an ash tray. He drinks too much pop and hates to do repair and maintence around the house although he is very handy. He loves his football and hates to miss a game on TV! He doesn't understand girls very well, but he knows how to listen when I make suggestions about the things I loved and remembered most with my dad. He does yell when he gets mad (it takes alot to make him mad) but he never undermines me when I have to disapline the girls. Most of all he is helping me follow a life long dream. And I know as our girls get older he will help them find and follow their dreams too. We are very lucky to have him....as a husband and a Dad. Ya know..I gotta remember to tell him that more often. Thanks.

I think I'm a good father and grand father....I will take responsibility for their actions and help and advise them where possible. I don't expect them to be brain surgeons just to earn their own money and be happy. they have full respect and manners towards others.
