It's called a rhetorical question, and whatever the topic is, rhetorical questions are asked in a way to stop individual thought and to provide the answer that you want people to have. Sometimes they are useful, especially in a public speaking forum, and also in debate. But in a genuine conversation, it's best to let dialogue have its way between people and to discuss the merits of opinions.

I think such questions waste everyone's time, but allow people to pick up an easy two points.

I think that we should pray to Jesus and find out. Jesus has all the answers, and you will find the answers in Jesus. Love thy neighbor - even if he live 3 miles down the road and you can't see his house from your kitchen wiindow. I can't.
