I've heard of this before with very young children. Often when parents don't introduce their children to a wide enough variety of food, or when they overreact to a child disliking a particular food (often resulting in only feeding the child with foods that the child likes) this can lead to a fear of trying new foods. This can lead to major problems as the child can sometimes suffer malnutrition through missing out on vital vitamins found in foods that children commonly dislikes such as meat or vegetables. Its essentially a very serious form of anxiety, whereby trying new flavours and textures of food can result in panic and fear. The child worries about not liking the new food therefore when they actually try to eat it, it results in an inability to swallow the food or a feeling of a need to vomit. When the suffer these physical symptoms of their food anxiety such as being sick following trying new food, this reinforces their anxiety and therefore reinstates this fear as a genuine problem.
It means they then actively seek to avoid consuming new foods and stick solely to those that they are familiar with in attempt to reduce or avoid their phobia.I think you need to discuss this with your GP or perhaps a qualified psychotherapist (your GP can refer you for counselling of this kind) to help you overcome this problem.
I think it would be beneficial to your health and also your lifestyle in terms of social benefits if you were able to eat other foods. Its particularly important should you wish to have children in the future, as pregnancy is a time when the body should receive all the nutrients it needs through a varied diet. One problem you may be finding is constipation through a lack of fibre in your diet along with perhaps skin or weight issues due to your body not getting the nutrients it needs and not actively digesting the food you are consuming as the body can become overly used to foods if the diet is not varied enough.
A psychotherapist will help you to overcome any anxiety you may have about trying new foods and will talk through with you the issues you may have with food that may or may not have occurred through some elements of your upbringing. They will take small steps with you and help you to come with an action plan to overcome this disorder. The first step is to have a word with your GP about your specific problems. As previously mentioned, it is particularly important to overcome this problem for your health and also the health of any children you may have, as I imagine your children will pick up on your own eating habits and develop similar problems with food.
I hope this helps and good luck!

I thought you were taking the piss out of me then. It's my sort of thing although i do eat veg. However sometimes I have to FORCE myself to eat something. It tastes OK but i still DONT want to eat it. My girlie thinks I'm SCARED of food. Eh? I get by but I know I'm going to suffer in the future, I'm about ten years older than you. I believe it is a psychological thing. Perhaps hypnosis therapy would help.

I'd talk to someone familiar with eating disorders. While this isn't bulimia or anorexia, it would seem to be classified that way since you only eat certain foods. Regardless, you need professional help if you're serious about learning the proper way to eat.

Yes you do have an eating disorder.
You have an addiction to foods high in preservatives, additives...blah, blah...basically junk food.
The best way to do deal with it is to have at least one small 'normal' meal per day, and slowly increase it over time...and this way you can slowly introduce your body to proper food.
Good luck.
