make sure you're giving him plenty of fluids - I assume since you didn't say he's vomiting that this shouldn't be a problem. And pay attention to his diapers. If he stopps wetting for like 12-18 hours, take him in. In fact, he's 16 months old, and that is almost 6 days, maybe you should just have him looked at anyway.

My youngest son got horrible diaarhea when he was about 8 months old. He did it like 12 times a day and I couldnt do anything to stop it. I called the doctor and he said as long as he is drinking and wetting his diaper with urine, he wasnt dehydrated. Anyway, it continued on for a few more days and I took him in. The dr said he was fine but I should put him on the BRAT diet. It stands for bananas, rice cereal, applesauce and toast. He said that as long as he continued to drink and eat the diet, he would be fine and feeling better soon. So I did just that and the next day he was fine. Otherwise, if it didnt get better, he needed to be checked for rotovirus. So, I would talk to the dr and see what he has to say.

well, this is the deal...if you take him to the doctor..he might be dehydrated....start giving him rice water right now....get some rice cover the bottom of a small bowl and add half the bowl with water..stick in microwave for about 2maybe 3 minutes....give the water off the rice to him...not hot though..add ice first..this puts starch back into his system therefore thickening up his stools. It works, my son has been in the hospital several times and when nothing else works, that is what they give him....If you take him to the doctor they will put him in the hospital and that could be upsetting to both of you...they will put an IV and all that crap....take ur first finger and thumb and gently pinch his skin on the top of his hand...if it stays up and doesn't go right back down...he is getting dehydrated.....if not, don't sweat it....but if it does....give pedialyte and kool-aid....yes...kool-aid and rice water.....it will get better.....god bless

You should take him to the doctor's ASAP. You should have done this on Thursday. He can get dehydrated. Make sure that you give him plenty of fluids. It's dangerous for a baby to have diarreah for more than 24 hours.

Take him to the doc. It's easy for young kids to get dehydrated and obviously something is wrong.

As soon as possible. Diarrhea is usually a sign of infection and he can get dehydrated.

it has been 6 days - have you given him pedialite?- that will replenish his electrolytes-
has he had a fever?-if yes- take him to the Dr. if no then give him pedialite(found at any grocery store by the baby food isle) and no solid food until at least for today if it doesn't go away today- take him to the doc-

You should take him to the dr IMMEDIATELY if he is showing any signs of dehydration (dry lips, dry eyes, dry mouth, if you press on his nails and the color doesn't return right away). Could you call an advice nurse in the meantime???
