No you don't. You may use salted fish (not salty ones) as a
substitute for shortage of anchovies. You can get them at
the local supermarket under dried sea-food stuff.
Make sure you wash it properly, cut it into bite sizes and
fried it gently in a chinese wok.

Absolutely, you could even make it into one of those *sweet* little dinner party games. "Whoever gets the goldfish has to host next weeks dinner party!" (like the plastic baby in mardi gras cakes).
It would certainly be memorable. And ISN'T that the point?

No, 'cause my goldfish are so cute!! Besides, the anti-algae chemicals I use in the tank say they are safe for fish not used for human consumption.

EEEEWWW Gross. I love sushi, but I could never come to the point to take a bite out of "Tater tot" my pet fish. AAAWWWW Those sweet little eyes that glare at me through the glass. Nope, couldn't do it. :)

Goldfish have harder bones, so I wouldn't try it. And goldfish are not salty.
