I had a sealed plastic container full of whole grain flour which I sieved it all before closing it up, there were no signs of Weevil's. A month later on opening it up there were hundreds of them. Any ideas??

place flour in air tight bag and place in freezer for a couple of days...that should take care of them...Your entire stock of cerials, flours, meals, etc. will be infected...to the same for all these things. Once you have a weevil infection, it is very hard to bring it under control. Empty cabinets, wash everything, spary chlorox cleaner and clean well. Good luck..I battled these things for years. But freezing kills them.

Buy your flour from another source.

Your problem is that the flour was infested at the processing plant. Even sifting it doesn't get the eggs out, so keeping it in a sealed container only helps if it's clean to begin with.

Another thing you can do is to seal it in a container like before, but store it in the freezer.

Throw away anything with weevils in it. Then mix up bleach and water, half and half, and wipe down the inside of the cabinet, Then put anything dry into closed containers. You can write on the container with a marker, put a label on it, or cut out and tape instructions from the package it came in onto the outside of the container. It is also wise to switch cupboards occasionally.

I agree with all of the suggestions above. However, if you just don't have room in your fridge/freezer and must store these items in the pantry, I recommend putting a small amount of Ammonia in a small opened container or an old jar lid (one or more) on your shelves near your flours. This has worked well for me and my family.

Good luck!
