My question---It's almost impossible for me to diet, healthy. I have an ab lounge and an elliptical at home. I've had two c-sections, and my gut is just not even proportionate to the restof my body. If i would happen to just work on my stomach muscles, could i still lose weight in that area w/o giving up the food i like to eat?

No. Don't get me wrong, exercise is important but the number one way of losing weight is to watch what you are putting in your body. I congratulate you on your willingness to be active though. you can still eat the foods you like to eat but only in moderation and usually only as a treat now and then. You can work your stomach muscles all you like but the fat on top of them is not going anywhere if you don't watch your diet (and by diet I don't mean starving yourself- you need to eat small meals regularly). Good luck to you.

My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

how about a well balanced diet with exercise?

this is an age old concept that works, i can't understand what has happened to that.

IE: current food pyramid. follow it, see what happens in a month.

keep hydrated also with fluids that aren't processed with chemicals and sweeteners.

fresh produce is best.

30 min. of exercise a day.

fad diets, pills, fad herbs that promise results, programs like jenny craig... failures and once you stop those and go back to your normal diet you'll put on double the weight.

the food pyramid is a simple schematic without all this mumbo jumbo and what it is about a well balanced diet involving all the foods of course moderating the sweets and fats while increasing the vegetables and fruits.

you don't need to cut out anything in your life and you don't need to starve to death.

if you maintain this for the rest of your life not only will you keep the weight off but when you do go crazy and bindge your weight will not double.

plus you'll be ridding your body of toxins on a regular basis without scam programs and products.

and you'll be getting those 30 minutes daily exercise that all your body really needs.

other key points: take the stairs, forget the elevator.
ride a bike instead taking the car to short distances.

so on.

common sense is what you need in this game of diet, nutrition and good health.

There should be no such thing as a diet, you just need to limit yourself and balance your lifestyle and and you will lose the proper weight and stay lean and fit.

it's only impossible if you make it that way. buy healthy foods next time you go shopping. you can't spot reduce meaning you wont lose weight in just your stomach, but all over. you need to make a lifestyle change if you're serious about losing weight.
