yes if given the oppertunity it will. keep the cage in a room that is off limits to the cat to be on the safe side.

Oh yes they can. The cat thinks the gerbil is rat or a mouse. If you have a gerbil or gerbils, keep it in an aquariium, and keep the aquarium in a place where the cat don't see it. I almost had a cat eat a gerbil one time by trying to get into the cage.

A cat would eat a gerbil. It's a rhodent, which cats are instinctively honed in to hunt.
If you have a gerbil, consider getting it a secure cage, and keeping the cat out of the room it lives in.

Yes it will if there is nothing else to eat or no one around while the gerbil is unprotected.
Cats are natural hunters. They will eat rodents. I've seen them do it.

Yes, unless it is just a lazy good for nothing cat that isn't interested in mice or birds or anything elso. If you value the gerbil, I wouldn't try it.
