The Indian nations did not use surnames before the European invasion.

As for today, look at the webpage for any Indian nation and you will see lots of surnames. usually, they are just like every one else's in the majority society.

The Navajo and Hopi have some names that sound odd to our ears.

Set the census to 1880 US. Enter a common first name; John, Mary, James, etc. (You have to fill in first or last name).

Set race to Native American.

You can set the state, too; more Iriquois in New York, more Navajo in Arizona Terrirory. (Remember, this is 1880).

go to the directory and look up the names in Arizona and Nevada you will find a lot of names there.
