Nope...but it is a good way for the government to receive more revenue for an unhealthy yet very addictive habit.

It won't cure nicotine addiction. The addiction will still be there. But the cost of feeding that addiction might lead some people to quit smoking. If they can't afford to keep buying cigarettes, maybe they will stop smoking... or find another way to get cigarettes (black market) or to switch brands to a cheaper smoke.

No people dont believe that raising the price of cigarettes will cure nicotine addiction?
People who raise the price of cigarettes dont care about curing nicotine addiction.
Raising the price of cigarettes is about creating additional revenue. Since addicts just keep on buying, its a great way to keep the cash rolling in.

Will it cure addiction - NO
IF this passes.....
52% of the projected revenue is suppose to go toward treatment-related concerns, including hospital emergency care services, nursing education, emergency physicians, community clinics, prostate cancer treatment, and smoking cessation services.
42% is earmarked for prevention efforts, including for children’s health insurance (the Healthy Families program), for programs to prevent chronic diseases, including cancer, heart disease, and asthma, and for tobacco education, prevention, and law enforcement
The increased price theoretically may deter future buyers. Mostly likely teenagers.

No, but middle class kids might not be able to buy as many and therefore mightn't get hooked.
Really, who cares if you have an addiction? Should I feel sorry for such whiny babies? You did it, you do it and you don't care! I think you should all be charged triple for health insurance, homeowners insurance, and not allowed to have kids until you quit permanently.

No but I believe that raising the tax on cigarettes will fund the health care we have to supply to the emphysematous and lung cancer ridden cigarette smokers in the long run.
