Short answers to your questions, one by one. It can't just be "peacefully resolved". It is bigger than just the pope's quote ( that's just one small episode in a much larger ongoing problem). I don't know that the "majority" of Islam has "declared jihaad against any non-Muslim". In fact I would say it' s a minority of them , fortunately, that think this way. (Remember the faith has 1 and a half billion followers; probably 1 % of them are actively militant). I don't see an immediate "way out"; there is no easy answer. We should DEFINITELY NOT start "paying the head tax". No need to. Not unless we find ourselves living in a nation that's been conquered by Muslims and becomes a part of a revived Islamic Caliphate. Which , basically, will never happen, probably not EVER, but definitely not ever in any of our lifetimes that's for sure !

Within the framework of mental health it seems that extremists behaviors, of whatever religion, corporation or person, show a pervasive pattern of behaviors that could be diagnosed as Schizotypal Personality Disorder and/or Antisocial Personality Disorder. Presently there appears to be no cures for these disorders. Counseling and medication may improve behavior stability but unless appropriate measures are taken someone could die or hurt others. Diologue, not war or words (negative), would appear to be the best solution to find some agreement between the general society and these type of disorders. There's only one medication that I could think of working, if all else fails, and that thought would put me in the realm of paranoid personality disorder. So, the answer is time out, and communicate.

The Pope was quoting something from the 1300 and it's really got the radicals in an uproar. With that said, I am not Catholic. I don't agree with the Pope. I know he is well respected but not always correct. Now that he has given an apology...can't we move forward?

Yes, Jesus does teach forgiveness and turning the other cheek. God also tells us NOT worship false gods. I don't want to go out and kill people. I don't want to strap a bomb to myself and kill others.
I'm not going to KILL anyone for not accepting Christianity. They can follow their religion but DON'T try and force it on ME. I will ONLY bow down to the living God and His Son Jesus. Period!

There is and will be no peaceful answer to this. Islam is the heriditary enemy of Western Civilization. It doesn't matter what version of the West you have been raised in or converted to, whether you're Christian, Jewish, Liberal Humanist, Conservative Humanist or anything else. It's existential; you're in this fight by virtue of being born into the West. Islam will not rest until it destroys what makes you yourself. Your only choice is whether or not you betray who and what you are....

Classic case of the media brain washing the general public. Come on guys - were supposed to be civil - doesnt mean our media is!
Al-qaida is a minority organisation which is growing and fuelled by the constant publication of its actions in the media. We should publish the good work Islam does in the community not drive this hatered through peoples hearts.

I would rather die than convert to Islam. Personally, I think we should take all the muslims out (if you know what i mean). We are in a war where the enemy is trying to kill us all and we are trying to bring democracy to their coutry. It's not going to work. We have different objectives. What are they gonna do when they get a new government, they're gonna attack us again. We are feeding the hand that cuts off our heads. It's stupid and rediculous. We should kill all the muslims and take their oil and live better, safer lives.

Peaceably? First, Christians need to stop bashing Muslims and consider that they are people, too. If Christians would give them the consideration due them, it would help alot. And, that includes George W.--who pushes his type of government and his ''holier than thou'' religion.
