I would sit her down and discuss your feelings and concerns. She may not be aware of how she's making you and the family feel. If she doesn't budge, then I'd take it to your brother and let him deal with it, maybe he could make sure that he comes to visit his family without her. Don't stoop to her level, just avoid her when she is around the family and have the family members who are insulted by her to do the same. You say you help her? Does she ask for your help? Is she using you? If so, stop. Best of luck to you and your family.

Unfortunately there is not much that can be done through civility and reasoning. Confrontation would only accentuate her aggressive behavior. She may be unaware that she is being this way with you. She may know how she is and wants you to react adversely. Either way there is no reason why you should put up with her abuse, sister-in-law or not! Tell your spouse and get as much feed-back as you can. If there is no positive cooperation from him/her you must take matters into your own hands. Refuse to be anywhere near your sister-in-law, whether it is a family gathering or not. There is absolutely no reason why you should put up with her crap! You do not have to waste any more of your time, energy, and good will trying to accommodate this *****! It will be a bit difficult at first because of the family but in the long run you will thank yourself for being assertive. If she gets the message through your conduct she may come around to realizing that she has been acting wrong and may want to correct her conduct. If so, that would be great and if not you have already protected yourself and it doesn't matter. Good luck!

In laws are so are to deal with! I have a sister in law that was the same way. She seemed to except me then bang she would talk bad behind our backs and even my husband's sister's family. I would just ignore her and try not to be around her that much. If you can't ignore maybe tell your husband to have a talk with her about her attitude towards you. Good luck!

Tell her straight out how you feel about her treatment. You do not have to use foul language or go overboard. Just be honest with her. If all else fails ignore her and be rude back. Not sure how she is related but your brother or husband also needs to be told your feelings. It should be up to them to help resolve this.

Stay away from her as much as possible and don't work yourself up about ignorant people. Just remember and tell yourself when you are around her that you are a better person and are not going to stoop to her level and treat people like crap.

tell her to respect you and your family or stay away from your house. Sounds harsh but thats the solution. If you go to family functions and she is there do not give her satisfaction by talking to her. Ignore her and if conversation does come up by another person respond with respect and walk away.

Confront her like an adult. Ask her why is she always so rude to you.. she want happened after your talk- if her rudeness still continues...then either ignore her completely or treat her with the same lack-of-respect.

If it is difficult to talk to her, have your husband/your brother talk to her to find out what her issue is. Otherwise, I would just talk to her and explain you feel she is not treating you with respect and that if she has a problem she should discuss it so future gatherings won't be so stressful.

Well, I'm not sure if this is your brother's wife or your husband's sister, but I say avoid her as much as possible. I wouldn't stoop to her level by confronting her, but if you are asked by your brother (or husband, whichever applies) as to why you are avoiding her, be honest.
