The statement of faith - what a muslim believes, i.e. testifying to these beliefs makes one a Muslim - is called "Shahada". Here is a thorough explanation of it: http://muttaqun.com/shahada.html

The Quran is "the Words of Allah." It is unlike the Bible in that the Bible is written down by men, they call it "inspired by God" but it does not claim to literally be Words from God. The Quran does. Angel Gabriel ("Jibreel") was sent to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to relay God's/Allah's direct words. This was done over a 23 year process. As it was revealed, he would return to the people and recite it to them. They memorized it and would stop and reflect on the verses to gain understanding. To this day, countless Muslims still have it memorized (many so well that they can recite it from beginning to end without messing up a SINGLE word), so if every Book were to be destroyed, it would still live on! It was after Muhammad's (pbuh) death, at which point it was written down.

In The Quran it says to follow the Sunnah (traditions/ways/rulings) of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). For instance, The Quran says to do salat (the prostration prayers), but the specifics on how exactly to do that are found in books and books called HADITH (narrations) of Muhammad's SUNNAH.

As far as the issue over whether or not Jesus was a prophet or the son of God, keep in mind that nowhere in the bible does Jesus actually say that he is the son of God or to worship him. He once states to the pharisees, something to the effect: you SAY that I am the Son of God. But, think about it, with a message THAT important ("I am the Son of God"), wouldn't he say that EVERYWHERE he went, in every town? Sometimes christians point to this verse or that verse that MAY imply such a message. But also, keep in mind, when the disciples asked him how to pray, he said, "My father, which art in heaven..." So, we as Muslims agree that he taught people to pray to God and was like other prophets in this way. IT WAS PAUL who came around later, I think it was at least 40 years after Jesus' time on earth, and PAUL TOLD PEOPLE that JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD. So, as Muslims, we completely reject Paul's "revelation"/interpretation.

We believe that Allah/God consistently sent prophets throughout history, to remind people to worship Him only, to put away idolatry, etc. And that each Prophet (may Allah be pleased with them all) was sent a SIGN(s) to the people, to confirm that yes, he was a Prophet.

The Quran is the final message from God/Allah before end times. He has promised/stated that it will remain uncorrupted, unlike the recording of the messages from previous prophets and messengers, which did get corrupted i.e. contain errors etc.

Hope this was helpful for an intro to the topic. take care!

The Quaran is the teachings of Mohammed compiled and written by his followers I believe after he died. Muslims are divided into two major groups the sunnis and the shiites. This has to do with the authority passing through the blood line of Mohammed versus through the military leaders. This aside, Muslims claim their beliefs are based on the prophets and that Mohammed was the latest and greatest of these. Yet they go directly against the teachings of the Christ (whom they say is indeed the Savior) and they tend to not like Christians or especially the Jews who they claim are infidels. They believe they are under submission to God. They claim there are few differences between Muslims and Christians but yet on the essential beliefs they are dirrectly opposed to the teachings of Jesus. They say He did not die on the cross. Some even say that it was Judas who died on the cross not Jesus. This ranks among the blasphemies of the highest order immaginable. They claim that Jesus is not God and that He was only a prophet. Even though they believe He was sinless, and born of a virgin they think Mohammed was the greater prophet. They do not understand the divine nature of the Christ, the triune nature of God, nor what is true submission to God. In order to submit to God one must first understand and accept the nature and the work of Christ who was God Himself in human form redeeming the Jew first and then the Gentile. God does not see things the way that we do and He has the power to raise the dead. So Christians need not fear the attacks from the Antichrist which were foretold of old in prophesies from Christ and from others. The end times are swirling arround the drain and the hatred of God's people is becoming intensified as Satan knows his days are numberred. Christians, you need to be faithful to the truth that has been given you and seek God's face. Pray for the Jews that God will bring redemtion to His people, pray for the Muslim's that God will open their eyes and that they would heed the truth, pray for the Gentiles, that the Word of the Lord would be accepted by the full number.

Quran is the complete code of life.
It is the words of God sent for humanity through Muhammad (the last prophet) Muhammad was chosen to guide humanity to the right path. with the arrival of Muhammad (peace be upon him) as the last prophet of God, the position of Jesus as the prophet of God was finished. Muslims believe that Jesus was the Prophet of God he was the son of Maryam, who has not any husban but God gave birth to Jesus with His powers. Jesus was not the son of God as God has no sons, no father or mother.
About the death of Jesus, God says in Koran that Jesus wa not killed but jews tried to kill him but God has sent him to skies and he will be back as the follower of Muhammad (PBUH), and fight agaist the jews.

Islam means peace and the believers live in submission to Allah, the almighty .There is no God but he and surely prophet Muhammed is his last prophet .They are not supposed to force anyone to their belief and always respect other religions .

According to islamic view God has sent lakhs of prophets from among humans itself with his revelations and prophet Muhammed is his last prophet .There shall be no more prophets after him and till the end of the world Muslims shall be guided by the Holy Qur'an .The verses in it is immortal and suits all time and will never be outdated .

Prophet Isa (Jesus ) ,Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) etc were great prophets send by God .

God had revealed four books to guide humanity to four Prophets and one of them being the Torah (Bible before human influence on its verses ) and the last being the Qur'an (it will never be tampered or never will its verses be changed and will remain intact till the end of the world ) .

According to muslims Prophet Isa has not been crusified but raised to the fourth sky by the Almighty and will come to save the earth at the final day by killing a devil .Instead of Jesus it was Judas who was crusified .

Truely God is all alone and there is not a greater sin than associating others with ALLAH .He has no son nor family .He is neither born nor created .

Humans were created by him to live in submission to Allah . We all will be assembled before him at the day of judgement and our sins will be revealed .Then the worthy goes to the heaven and the sinners recieve the hell .

Islam means submission. Submission supposedly to their god. Basically, men are supposed to follow what is in the Koran, pray towards Mecca 5x a day, and women are supposed to submit to men and are lesser beings. Their religious text approves and encourages the beating of women and the slaughter of non-beleivers, ie: me and you. If you are a woman, it's a bad idea.

Differences between Islam and Christainity

1. Christianity and Islam differ on which family tree fulfilled most adequately the promises made to Abraham. Was it the family of Isaac or the family of Ishmael (pbut)? Christian say the promise to Isaac ended with Jesus (pbut), who was the fulfillment of all Old Testament prophesy. Islam says the Muhammad (pbuh) was the fulfilling Prophet of Ishmael's tradition.

2. The religions differ on the nature of human beings. Christianity, on the whole, has a negative view of human nature and asserts that we are fallen creatures. Therefore, the doctrine of original sin is central for Christians. We are saved only by the death and resurrection of Jesus (pbuh). Islam has a more positive notion of men and women and does not believe we are lost persons. Hence, it rejects the theology which supports original sin. We are saved by following the guidance provided for us in the Quran.

3. These differing views of human nature naturally lead to differing views about Jesus (pbuh). What Christians see as the heart of their faith--the divine sonship of Jesus: his incarnation, crucifixion, and resurrection; and the trinity-- are seen by Islam as distortion and alterations of true Islam, the original revelation of Allah

Similarities between Islam and Christainity

1. Christianity and Islam share a joint legacy of Biblical tradition and the same heritage of prophethood. Both religions come from Judaism, share the common parentage of Abraham, and delight in the Jewish Torah.

2. Islam and Christianity are both monotheistic religions and ascribe similar attributes to God: Creator, Sustainer, Judge, and Forgiver.

3. Islam and Christianity emphasize personal acts of piety such as prayer, fasting, charity, and scripture reading. They share as well the prophetic call to help the oppressed, the poor, the widow, the orphan, and the homeless.

The Quran was given to Muhammad (pbuh) by God through the Angel Gabriel. It has not changed since the time of revelation.

Jesus (pbuh) is seen as a prophet that was born of a virgin. But he is just a man with a message from God same as the prophets that came before him.
