I would say about 3, depending on other factors slightly, and also every hour you metabolize one drink, so that is in one hour. That isn't a definite answer, so don't test it out just to see if I, and a couple others that said 3, are right or anything like that. You could be just over the limit, or the Breathalyzer could misread a little (they aren't extremely accurate, just pretty accurate) and put you over the limit technically. Also, know that you can be arrested for DUI/DWI while under the limit, at the cop's discretion, at least in some states.

Depends on what you are drinking. There's a big difference between 3% beer and tequila. But the basic question is not how much you can drink, but why do you want to drink before driving? Zero tolerance is the safest designator if you want to help reduce the carnage on our highways.
If you can afford to go to a bar and drink, you can afford to take a cab home. Or arrange with your buddies to have a designated non-drinking driver. You can take turns doing that. Or drink at home. But please don't drink before you get behind the wheel of a car.
Thank you.

A very good question; I was only to happy to research this one. I found a great website for that answer. Legally you can have three drinks to keep you under 0.08. Many variables such as elapsed time, stomach content, health, and drug use will affect these numbers. The chart is only to illustrate how little alcohol it can take for a person to be charged as legally drunk.

About one drink that is less than 8oz and 1 hour of sobriety will do ya.
So, plan to stop drinking an hour before you get behind the wheel. Also, in the period of time before you drive only plan to have no more than 2 drinks, 16oz total, with one hour of sobriety for each drink. 2 drinks = 2 hours sobering up. Any way you look at it, drinking and driving do not go together. Logically, they are the antithesis of one another. Get a cab, or drive with a sober friend, or do not go at all. Drink at home at night, there is NOTHING better than having a safe good time.

Try drinking a glass of water after each drink you had, or eat a can of sardines before you go out to drink. The oil in the fish makes an layer in your stomach that keeps it from going in to your blood stream.

about three, depending on how fast you drink them, assuming one "drink" is a shot of 80-proof liquor or one beer.
