Actually, as a former Army Recruiter, I am happy to tell you that Army Recruiters at least, go to a six week school to learn how to counsel and to study the regulations that dictate the minimum requirements to join.
They learn the rules and regulations first, and then the bulk of the rest of their training is learning how to counsel those who may be interested in the Army. The Army is an intangible. You can't touch it, taste it, or own it. It requires someone to invest their lives into something that they can't quite put their finger on. The recruiter learns how to make the intangible valuable, with the goals of the applicant in mind.
They don't use gimmicks, nor sleight of hand, but inform the applicant about the benefits of serving in the Army. They let them know "what's in it for them."

They use the same tactics any big corporation uses to attract people to join: Recruitment. They tell you about what life is like in the military, and try to convince you that it may be something you want. And, if you do want the military life, convince you that their branch is the best.
Do they lie about it? Some do. But the ones that do lie is in a very low minority. For every one you hear on the news that lies and uses unethical methods to sign people up, there are probably a thousand you never hear of that do it completely legal.

The military does not use "tactics" to find people to join. Serving in the United States military is an honor.

your teacher is a fail...this would never happen in any type of realistic situation, even a hypothetical one is improbable. Even though the British did supply the South with some naval ships, they later paid back the Union (monetary wise). The British also never recognized the diplomats of the confederates, but recognized the diplomats of the Union. The British Empire also abolished slavery slavery nearly 3 decades before the civil war (why would they ally with a nation that promoted slavery, and Lincoln's emancipation proclamation made it even more unattractive to ally with the South. Hell the british people loved lincoln to the point that the people of manchester wrote a letter to lincoln which he responded back, which subsequently led to a statue of him in manchester with his letter engraved on the statue. The risks were too high to ever think of joining the confederacy, the British imported many goods from the U.S. to the British, to the point where 40% of the wheat Britain had came from the Union. No matter what incentive they would give the British, the British would have remained neutral

College is paid for, or they help with the costs, they introduce jobs that you may be interested in and may want to stay with in the military or things that you can use for a job when your duty is up.
They show you how well youll be taken care of and just for being in the military, youll be a veteran and no one gets better jobs or benefits than a veteran.
This is what Ive seen anyway, my dad and two brothers have had so much good come from them being in the service.
I also sat thru it with my stepson when he was thinking of the army. They definately have a sales pitch!

I have to say that for most part and for the few people I have known that have joined the army, their main concer is tuition for school, besides those who join it, because they actually believe that they can make a difference or the really "smart" sorry to put it that way, that believe that it would be an honourable thing, and although it may seem that way? I still don't understand why some people stilll join in, when many get killed, and more and more so, often!!
Anyhow, I believe that even on me, if I believed that to be my only way. I would join it too.

Why should they use any tactics at all, if able bodied youngsters of any country is willing to serve his country joining the military? And there are people in every country to give their life for the motherland.

This is what I've heard. No one has ever attempted to recruit me. I've heard things like recruiters will say "The war will probably be over with by the time you finish training"
Um lets see- At an air show, they had booths for recruiting. What better way to recruit than to do it with the Military at it's best doing awesome maneuvers and all.
That's all I know.
