It certainly doesn't help and neither does the increasing tendancy of the Police to pounce on anyone who acts to defend themselves against crime rather than going after the criminals themselves.

Judges are sometimes totally out of touch with reality and at other times are hindered by laws passed by a Government that is trying to sound "tough on crime" but at the same time is painfully desperate not to hurt anyone's feelings by doing anything that is not politically correct. The result is that we end up in situations where, for example, we are being tied in knots trying to defend the "human rights" of some petty drug dealer because he happens to be black to the detriment of the majority of the population.

Normal law-abiding people are rapidly losing faith in the Police in this country - it seems that all they are good for is catching terrorists on one extreme and handing out traffic fines on the other while vandals, drug dealers, child molesters and muggers go about untroubled by a law enforcement regime that is more concerned with targets and politcal correctness than keeping our communities safe. They risk a situation where people will increasingly feel isolated from the Police and become inclined to take the law into their own hands.

PC stands for Police Constable, NOT Politically Correct!!

The punishments need to be harsher but only for rape, child molesting, burglary, mugging, murder and fraud. If there was more support from parents and the wider community, most kids would never need to get into gang culture. In terms of prison sentences, the term prescribed should be served to its conclusion. Good behaviour should be rewarded with privileges, not a cut in the sentence. To reduce gang violence and influence in prison, all inmates should be kept in a comfortable solitary cell (with it's own exercise yard). This would help those with a drug problem to kick the habit, assuming of course the prison officers aren't on the take. Stay clean and be somebody. You owe that to yourself.

The whole problem began with this government introducing the so called Human Rights Act for their own politcal reasons(and to enrich the lawyers). Judges and the police are now so constrained by this Act that it appears most of them take the line of least resistance. I thought it was immensley funny that St.Cherie nearly got 'banged up' in Glasgow as result of a complaint by some of these PC loonies.

To sum up what these other posters have said,

See the prophetic movie, "Clockwork Orange". It portrays the absolute power enjoyed by brutal criminals in a disarmed society. In the end, the Government man feeds and nourishes the criminal, using him to further subjugate the law abiding subjects.

Leftist governments need to strip away the natural inclinations of real Men to defend life and justice. There is no place for a John Wayne or Superman in their world - such distinguished, inspiring persons deny them absolute control over the masses.

I've wonderred the same thing over on this side of the ocean, Essex. Kids and mothers running day-care centers get sued, murderes and rapists maybe get slaps on the wrist. Would-be robbers and murderers sue their intended victims when THEY get hurt. And sometimes even win.

What's wrong with this picture?

An armed society is a polite society. How do you like diversity now?

Sounds like making guns illegal did nothing but give the criminals an advantage.

Yes, liberal judges give liberal sentences, and criminals know they are a protected underclass and can do anything they want.
