It's because we have "faith."

Definition of faith:

"Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld," (Hebrews 11:1)

The "mountains of evidence" mostly are a few books who have been written to make money for the authors; books saying He was a legend, or else re-writing History so it can be what they want it to have been.

There is credible evidence that Jesus was born, just as the Old Testament Prophets had foretold, that He taught and ministered here on this Earth, that after His Resurrection [attested to and seen by many of His followers, including more than 500 at one time] He was exalted but His true Church carried on His work on earth, waiting for His promised [and quite possibly soon] Return.

And we have not only the O/T/ prophets but also the promise of none less than the Angel Gabriel, the Angel of the Presence.

Actually, there are mountains of evidence saying that Jesus was real and that He did raise from the grave! There's is this great book written by an atheist and he's trying to disprove Jesus, but He keeps finding all this evidence that strongly supports what the Bible says. And another thing, FAITH is another strong factor in the belief of Christians. We KNOW that God is real! It's really hard to explain but when you know God and have a relationship with Him you understand that He is real and we don't need tons of evidence to be able to trust in His existence. When doubting Thomas wouldn't believe that Jesus had risen again, Jesus appeared to him and Thomas then believed. Jesus then spoke these words to him,
'Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you believed; blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”' John 20:29

...actually historians know the two historians of the day, have recorded Jesus..
...Both Tacitus and Josephus write of Jesus as fact.. for example: "in A.D. 64, the Roman Tacitus wrote: Nero fastened the guilt . . . on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the ultimate penalty.." - "Christus of course is "Christ"
...and Josephus wrote: "Now there was about this time, Jesus.. and when Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men among us, had condemned him to the cross.."
...most historians have read the new testament.. They may not believe what the witnesses say about miracles.. but they believe the life, teachings and crucifixion..

You are deceived, if there is all this evidence then read some of it. Every true historic document PROVES he was here and did what He came to do. Look around you, the entire world has been changed by Him. People fight over Him, deny him, praise him, say he wasn't real just like you have here. If he was only a legend then someone is one heck of a fiction writer..........

Faith is a matter of arbitrary choice. It is accepting something as true without the need for proof.

There is way too much documentation from too many sources to support the fact that someone named Jesus of Nazareth existed.

Other than his name and existence, what he did and who is was is unprovable. There is no way to prove conclusively objectively what did or didn't happen 1950+ years ago. Too many records lost, too much subjective record keeping.

So, it comes down to what people choose to believe. That's faith.

I'd be interested to see links to this evidence.

There is 'evidence' of Jesus' life - second hand accounts of it. You can certainly question whether or not this evidence should be taken as fact, but I'm not aware of any proof that he was 'only a legend'. I mean I'm not aware of anything that specifically _disproves_ believer's claims.

There is not mountains of evidence saying Jesus was merely a legend.

THE so called mountains of evidence are a lie. I hope and pray you don't believe this mess. He is very real, and you had better believe it, if not now you sure will when he shows himself, and never doubt this he will, and probably very soon. believe it.

Faith is believing without seeing. I believed in Jesus before I saw Him and I will never be convinced He doesn't exist. He has always been there for me and I know He always will continue to be. He has worked wonders in my life and I wouldn't be who I am today without Him. I have even felt his comforting arm on my shoulder in a time of need. HE IS THERE.....SEEK HIM, you'll see....God Bless You!

there is a book about him, and if you haven't taken a trip to Jeruselum, The Garden of Gethsemane or any other reported pieces of land where Jesus has walked then whether or not you believe is still your choice, but don't say it didn't happen.
