Get some raffia and punch decorative holes in the note card and tie it off it little bows. Maybe use some clear glue and sprinkle little bits of sand on the card and use a hot glue gun to glue some small sea shells in the corner. Print on blue paper.
Congrats and good luck!

oriental trading is the best way to go to get the stuff you need. They actually have these message in a bottle invites that are kinda neat. If you could find some bottles like those or order the invites and then change the card to one you make yourself. maybe get some sand or colored sand in the colors of your wedding and go around the card with some gule then cover it in sand that would be pretty also some little sea shells and star fish. YOu can get them at a craft store. Or a paper umbrella. Just think of the beach and put it on the paper.

I say make them in the shape of either seashells or starfish. use clear glue around the edges and dip them in either beach sand or sparkles. If you are going to do the seashell one, use a pearl colored paper. If it is a starfish (or regular fish) use brown or any other light color... You can even decorate it with fake "seaweed" on the bottom of it!
What a creative idea! Good luck!

If you don't have to mail them (or don't have to mail SOME of them, at least), you could look into actual seashells. It might not be feasible to do all of them that way, but you could get some (clam, oyster, something with a relatively flat surface inside) and just write your names and the date on it with permanent marker. Then you could hand-deliver as many as possible. (This might be time-consuming, but would certainly be memorable.)
Another idea - my cousin made business-card magnets with a photo of them and some basic information. Then people could stick them on the fridge and keep it in mind. To keep costs down, they sent one to each family, rather than one to all the people that would receive and invite. (ie. although all the cousins and their families got invitations, just the aunts and uncles got the save the date cards and were asked to share the information.)

Try this link for invitations and then whatever you order (you can go with a plainer invite) put little starfish or sand dollars in the envelopes or attach them to the invite with rubber cement. They are almost flat so they mail well. You can order them in bulk online much cheaper than buying them at the craft store.
If it were my call, I would attach one to the RSVP card too.
Don't spend too much on your invitations, put the money into your music or photos instead.

I don't know where the heck she found them, but my girlfriend found a company online that did a message in a bottle for her beachside wedding invitations. They were absolutely adorable. Don't know what she paid either, but they mailed them for her. She supplied the addresses and they mailed them out. The bottles had the invites rolled up inside with sand and mini shells with a cork top. They were absolutely adorable. If interested, email me and I'll try to find out where she got them, or do a search for message in a bottle invites or something.

There are hundreds of ideas at your local craft store. Beach is a pretty common theme. What with just coming out of summer and all.
Look at scrapbooking embellishments, stickers and stamps. They range from child stuff, to really pretty, even vintage.
Good Luck and Congratulations.

Go to the craft store and pick up a book of handmade, natural paper in natural earthy tones. You'll fold them in half or cut them in half to make them smaller. Purchase small lightweight sand dollars from the craft store and attach them to the card by pulling a pretty white or light blue ribbon through the sand dollar (you may need to put holes in the sand dollars) and through the card!
Also, check out www.breezybeachwear.com for a pretty silk flower hair clip for you to wear or to give to your bridesmaids. They also have a fun "island groom" and "island bride" T-shirt in their apparel section.
Have fun!

Buy little glass vials (tiny ones) with cork caps and fill them with sand upto the middle, write the save the date on a tiny peace of paper and put it inside, tying it to the cork, so that when people pull it out the paper comes out too.
Good luck.

I am using vistaprint.com. Mine is a simple orange/yellow flower, and I'm using their postcards for engagement announcements, postcard size magnets for save the date cards, possibly their linen notecards for invitations, and then linen thank you cards.
Once you purcahse one thing from them, they send you specials to get other things at a discount price.
If you wanted to do magnets, you can do smaller than postcard size. Or you could use their regular postcards (rather than magnets) as save the date cards which is a little cheaper. You can upload your own design or choose one of theirs. You can also print postcards in glossy or matte finishes.
When you go to their site, you can pick what you want (postcards, magnets, business cards, etc), then choose whether you want one of their designs or your own. If you use one of theirs, look under the category travel.
Large magnets:

There are 3 pages of designs. You could also have someone design something for you (my fiance owns a digital/graphic design company and could do something for you for probably about $50-$100). www.designingdigitally.com
You could also have a design made, and then buy nice paper somewhere like staples, office depot, or walmart, then print them yourself. That would definitely save you some $$.

4pm-Just got my engagement announcements in the mail..gorgeous!!! I LOVE them.
Go to www.vistaprint.com/freespecials and you can get some free stuff!
