Every year around this time I develop a horrible dry, hacking cough. Prescription meds and over the couter meds don't help me. I am now looking for any household methods I can find. Any ideas?

Could it be allergies?
If you get it at the same time every year ......Id say it could be.
Try some allergie meds. Over the counter ones work pretty good for this. Read the packaking for one that helps a cough. It could be the mold spores flying around this time of year getting in your throat causing an irritation. Could be anything flying around in the air really...grass polinates in fall too.
I live on pseudophed practically because of this.

RX meds dont work...ooooh ok try hot tea with honey and or lemon then ...it shoothes the throat. Warm salt water gargels are supposed to help too. Sleep with a vaporizor in your room to keep the air moist this will help your throat too. Fill it with vics according to directions to help sooth as well.
Have you tried a cough supressent with codine? Ask your Dr. about this they work well.

quit smoking?

load up on cough drops, and dont drink ice-cold beverages - they'll only make it worse.
