Absolutely not! It will be a benefit to her emotionally and physically. Dogs do get mammary cancer and spaying will go a long way to prevent this possibility. Believe me, it is not something you will want to have to deal with.

Well, it's best to get any dog spayed before they've gone into the first heat since it will reduce the risk of cancer later in life.
But there are no side effects for spaying later in life. I think there is still a benefit. The cancer being one, and the lack of unwanted puppies in the future.

There are some but few side effects of spaying your dog.

Incontinece could be one of them, but rare.

Death during anesthesia, which any surgical procedure can have this outcome.

Weight gain, but this can be controlled with proper nutrition and exercise.

Insision site might become infected, rupture or scar badly. But with good vigilance this can be prevented or caught early to prevent it from becoming a big problem

The benifits outweigh the cons on spaying.

Prevents the messy heat cycles and every thing associated with it (moodiness, lack of appietie, vomitting, diaherria, unexpected/unwanted aggressive male visitors, bloody mess)

Prevents cancer of the ovaries, Uterus, and many times the mamory glands.

Prevents a highly life threatening condition called pyometria which is a uterine infection that will kill your dog if not caught in time.

Will help put weight on dogs who have problems keeping weight.

You will not have to worry about any unexpected litters, or psuedo pregnancys (which can really be frustrating).

Just some things to consider. I believe its a good thing, both my dogs are fixed and are doing great.

It is not a bad thing, You are helping control the pet population. Before the procedure, you may want to ask your vet to run a test to make sure she is not allergic to the anesthia so you don't have any bad after-effects. After the surgery, you have to keep her play time to a minimum for a few days. No jumping, running, or playing & if you walk her, make it short, atleast for the 1st few days.
Some dogs don't even know that they have had the procedure done & recovery is pretty easy.
Good luck & don't feel bad, she should be just fine!

Getting a female dog spayed is good for her, you, and all the other doggies! It prevents her from being pursued by male dogs, keeps you from having to nurse her through pregnancy and labor, and it keeps the number of unwanted animals down.

No, my Lab was spayed and she is loving and playful. It is good to get her spayed, so she will not have male dogs wanting to get at her, etc. Also won't have to worry about puppies too. I have noticed that they are like puppies and just want to play and loving.

for peace of mind discuss the side effects w/a vet . but i have a 4yr old Maltese, which i spayed about a yr and half ago . and she is great i don't have to worry about any mess when she's in heat .
she's in a good mood all the time and i don't have to worry about
ovarian cancer . the vet told me if i took my time spaying her, i increased her chances of ovarian cancer . because in her type of breed this type of cancer is common ! so i wasted no time and took her to get spayed and she's great no regrets !!!!!!

It's a benefit to get a dog spayed.

*They don't go into heat.
*They don't have puppies.
*Since they don't go into heat you don't have to worry about stray male dogs.

There are really no side effects (except no heat). She might gain a little weight, (but that's more prevent in male neutered dogs) and you can curb that with a good diet.

No it is one of the best things you will do for her. Getting her spayed will prevent her from getting different kinds of cancers she won't go into heat so you won't have that to deal with and if she ever gets loose she won't be able to get pregnant thus you won't have to worry about puppy's you don't want.
