Just a note to say I haven't commited this offence (I can't drive anyway!), but am simply curious about it!

If you are in the UK the maximum sentence as an adult is six months and a fine of up to £5000. This would differ if there are any aggravating factors or other charges at the same time. Courts tend to clamp down hard on this kind of offence because it is basically sticking two fingers up at a previous court order.

Put it this way; if you are caught over the limit for the first time, you can expect a mandatory one year ban. If you are caught a second time for the same offence you get a mandatory 3 year ban.
Now if you are caught driving whilst disqualified for the first time you will get a 18 month ban to run concurrently to your existing ban.
However I was lucky in the fact that I had a bloody good solicitor on my side; I was initially banned in May 1994. I got my licence back in July 2004. I kept on getting caught and re caught over 8 years. The problem comes when you get caught driving whilst disqualified; it' like you are taking the piss out of the judge/ magistrates decision. Not a good thing to do. To be honest with you, 3rd and 4th offences usually end up as custodial sentences.
I was very lucky.

I suppose it depends just what you were doing when stopped, just driving you might well just get the ban extended, but if you commit some other offence then you could well get some sort of jail sentence, but depends on the judge on the day.

first offence then never but if like me having been banned for a very long time usually you could expect about 4-6 months for every time you do it. Bearing in mind that the disqualification period gets longer each time also

it depends on where you are at. Here it is 90 days first offence from what i understand and after that it adds 90 days on for each time plus the other circumstances of the time if your drunk, high, carring wepons, if it was done in connection with another crime it all depends on all circumsrtances

can't see the point of banning people they should be put qn a register and then if they commit the crime again they shouldn't be aloudto buy a car again the person who sells them one should then be sent to prison

the longer the better for being stupid enough to ignore the ban.
