First off, what exactly did he say? Is anyone else worried about this? I'm concerned that Al-Quieda (I know I spelled it wrong, I'm sorry) will interpret his statement as representation of how all Christians feel, when his statement was merely a quote from several centuries ago. Any discussion?

Serious answers please, I'm not trying to start a Y!A war on here.

Benedict said that violence is not in accord with God's will. Some Muslims have inferred that the Pope was insulting Islam.
It is dangerous that this view, misrepresented as it has been, will be thought to represent all Christians, which is certainly not the case.
Christians, too, must be careful not to categorize all Muslims as intolerant and war-like.

The pope quoted an historical text that told the truth about islam. That it was founded and spread at the point of the sword.... this is historicaly acurate but denied by todays islam decievers...

this proves that even the pope is right once in a whil...but he will most likly bow to political pressure and back off from his statement... He seems to be doing that from news reports right now...

islam is the greatest evil facing the world today

every one of The True Christian Faith needs to speak out against the evil of islam... even the non-christian roman "church" must stand against it... we must be armed and prepaired to defend the lives of all who are threatened by the evil of islam.

The pope spoke the truth. The proof is in the pudding so to speak as you can but look at all the responses to his words, full of hatred and abdicating violence and this is indeed evil.

he quoted an old text saying that, essentially, mohammed was evil and everything he brought was tainted, including his teachings (aka, islam)

i see the pope's point, that he was only quoting an old text not stating his own opinion. but people usually don't quote things they completely disagree with without saying they completely disagree with them

imagine someone quoting one of hitler's nastier quotes in a political speech...that would be on par with what the pope said

the issue isn't JUST the Quote, you must understand what he was talking about in his speech that made him quote this statement.

Seriously--------from all the anti Muslim comments on this Site-----I think it is how most Christians feel. Their comments are usually disgusting and very bigoted.
