It could be a number of reasons that would make your puppy sick, does he have all his shots? What kind of dog is he? But whenever a dog has diahera or vomitting he will dehydrate if it pursists. I don't want to alarm you but my dog had similar symptoms and she was diagnossed with parvo. If he is not eating and just drinking water, she may become dehydrated. I took my dog to her vet and told him I didn't have money he put me on a payment plan once her 6 day stay at the vet was over. She if your vet will do that for you. I am not saying he has parvo but i would get him tested asap. Call your vet and see if he will do that for you. Keep me updated. I hope everything works out.

It depends on the situation. If the dog is whelping a litter of pups or a cat has a little diarhhea then the first option would be to handle it at home to see if the situation gets better. And while waiting people can ask other pet owners if they have any ideas on how to deal with the problem and ask for general advice. If it doesn't get better then the next option is the vet. Some people do have a few hum dingers on here, but for the most part the questions are good, valid ones.

It could very well be intestinal parasites. Call your vet and ask them for a dewormer. The dosage will go by weight, so make sure you weigh him before you call.
Also, use this hamburger & rice recipe for diarrhea. About 2 cups of VERY, very well cooked white rice- mushy & overcooked. Use nothing but a pinch of salt in the water. Mix it with 1/4 cup of parboiled lean ground beef. (Basically boil the hamburger in a skillet in plain water- NO SEASONINGS!) You'll notice that there's a lot of rice in comparison to the beef, but that's the way it's supposed to be. The beef is mainly for flavor. The important thing is the rice. Don't feed your puppy anything else. No dog food, no biscuits, and definitely no table scraps. The diarrhea should clear up in a few days.
If these two symptoms don't cease in 3-4 days after the special diet and the deworming medication, you'll need to make an appointment with your vet before your pup dehydrates.
PS: You can't be sure that it's Parvo. Don't panic. These symptoms are quite common in pups. Try what I said first, and if he doesn't get better, then start to have him tested for other things like Parvo and such.

Sorry to say this, but it sounds like "parvo" which is fatal if you don't react quickly and get the puppy to the vet.
Sometimes you can be billed but if you love this pup and want it to live you need to go to the vet today!!
The longer you wait the worse it will be for the puppy and you.
They can survive this disease if you get them to the vet in time.
The puppy need medicine only from the vet. I was lucky and did not have to leave my 6 month old pitbull puppy over night. We did know if she was going to make it. She had 3 of her 4 shots and that helped her recovery. But missing that 4th shot was enough for her to contract parvo even with her only being her own backyard and not walking in parks and stuff.
React quickly and good luck. The shots for pups are very important and they help to keep the puppies healthy.

If you had a very sick child, would you wait 2 weeks before taking him to the vet. Part of pet ownership is taking responsibility for them when they are sick. Borrow the money, use a credit card, do something to get the money or your dog may die.

You can at least take him to be looked at. Maybe the vet can work something out for you like a payment plan or cheaper options.
Give it another day. If there are no signs of improvment, he needs to go whether you have the money now or not.
If your kid was sick, you'd take them to the doctor. Same with your dog.

I'm so sorry about your pup.
Try and find a vet that will take payments. Your pup may not make it a couple of weeks. Many vets will take payments if you explain your situation.
You can also try calling the local shelters and the ASPCA where you live and and tell them how sick your dog is and ask if they can refer you to a vet or clinic that is willing to take payments, or one that is low cost.
Whatever you do, PLEASE, PLEASE, do this TODAY. If your dog is as sick as you say, he may not live a couple of weeks, or even a couple of of days without veterinary treatment .

he needs a vet asap. Is he vaccinated? it may b parvo virus which is definately fatal if untreated. He needs medication, admission into hospital and needs to be placed on a drip. Borrow some money, get a credit card, or find someone who does accounts (if theres anyone) If u cant afford a dog dont have one or invest in pet insurance bcos owning animals altho enjoyable its expensive! Your dog cant wait a couple of weeks, stop making him suffer!

Sounds like Parvo Virus. Does he small funny?? If so you need to do everything you can to get him to a vet!! Parvo is a virus that will live in the soil for years!! It will dehydrate him and eventually kill him. If you can't afford a vet please call your local SPCA or even the nearest shelter. They may be able to help you find a vet that is willing to help you. Keep him away from other dogs as he could pass the virus to them also!!
