Thanks all
I hope we as people can make the world a nice place to live in , we believe in positive. Many people here doubted about the safety issue
But here i think i good and nice smile can kills the evils in the mind
Besides that a empty mind is an evil mind. That means a man/woman who is lonely always believes in negative things and that makes him/her believe or plan bad things.He/she just need a nice smile and make the world better for him/her

I work in the food related industry on the weekends. I work a hooters. I see a lot of lonely men come through there and they are not all pervs. Some are really nice men. Just they have no social skill and are most of the time really shy. They come to hooters not to look at the women (well, i am sure they do, but not only to look at the women) but to get some kind of social interaction with them.
At a place like chilis for instance.... when i worked there, I didn't just go up to some random table where a guy was sitting alone and say "hi, how are you today? I hope you're having a great day today!!!"
At hooters i will do that sort of thing, and when it is not even my table. We as hooters girls are actually expected to go and talk to tables that aren't our own. It is part of the hooters experience, but i take it a step further to get to know these people.

ok, last night for instance... I see a guy come in every sunday night. He orders a diet soda and a burger and he sits and reads his news paper. He bothers nobody and isn;t the least bit "creepy". anyway, i noticed that he comes in each sunday night with the same ritual and asked him about it. he told me that he lives alone and hooters is the only thing he waits to do on sundays. Like he waits all week to come to hooters on sundays just to be treated nice by us. I thought... wow? what an impact just one person can make on someone elses life??? just by me saying hi and remembering this guy i made him feel more important.. i don't know.. i am rambling on, but yeah... i think i do that a lot. I smile at people not only when i work at hooters or anywhere else, but in my daily life.... it is a good feeling when you smile at some one and they smile back...

I almost always talk to people every time I come into contact with them , no matter who they are .
My Daddy was a very genuine friendly person and I guess I liked that about him so I followed his lead . You are correct in your statement too , we never know if a simple smile or kind word will help to make someones day a little brighter .

Great question , maybe more of us will be reminded to do the same !
Oh no we might start something good !!!

i would probably talk to more people if they talked to me. (i know, it's not fair) you mean, random people on the street, right? i think, people that have that ability to just strike up a conversation with total strangers should do that more often. it would help us people that don't have that talent.

as far as being unhappy....i've had a few people in the past come up to me and say things like, "cheer up, it's not so bad." now...THAT just made me mad. i guess i do LOOK aggrivated or ticked or sad on any given day. that's probably because i'm not very comfortable around strangers. i don't know why. but, what if i was really upset about something and just started crying when someone said that? how would they handle that? i've always wondered.

I talk to strangers every single day, several times a day...I don't see how you can avoid it, if you are in the business world....I greet everyone with a smile....and if they are having a bad day, I do everything I can to make the situation better.

I talk to strangers every day & some people I already know that are just strange. I work with the public so it's kinda hard not to talk to them.
Even when I'm away from work I talk to stangers, unless the give me that creepy feeling.
So I would have to say I talk to strangers quite often, at work & off work too.

Circumstances determine when one speaks to strangers, usually it would be in either a "service" situation, or in a social situation. Maybe if people would just remember to be kind when speaking with others, stranger or not, this alone would improve the mood of the day for many.
