They are in every post office that I know of in NYC.

They are at the post offices... and I think you can still access them even after the post offices close. Also, they have trucks around town somewhere, I never know where they are going to be, but I pass them by sometimes, and they are like a moving post office around the city... it's strange.
There aren't any machines just on the street as far as I know.

im certain there are zillions but i know there is one inside the post ofc at 3rd av and 54th because i go to it. look on usps.com
