If he is regular, take him to the toilet around the time he is usually going and bring a book along. Let him know that when he goes in the toilet he can get a cookie or something, so he has a goal to work towards. He is 3 now, so he definately understands. I had to finally take all of my sons toys away, and every time he went on the potty, he earned one toy back. You would think it was Christmas how excited he was. From then on, he went on the toilet by himself. Be stern when he goes in his pants. If you have to have him sit on the toilet for an HOUR, do it. When he goes, make the biggest deal out of it, jump up and down and clap, and give him high 5s, and a treat. He'll be so proud of himself that he'll want to do it over and over again. Good luck!

Is he doing it on accident or because his underwear is where he chooses to go? Accident fine but if he is choosing to go in his underwear - this may sound kinda mean but I would make him be the one to clean up. Take off undies, put poops in toilet, wipe his bum (obviously may need some help here) and put underwear in laundry. Unless however, this becomes fun to him well then I guess this didn't work. But, if he doesn't enjoy cleaning it up, he may think twice before doing it again in his undies!

Use lots of communication and explain to him that he will be the one to clean up the mess every single time and he should maybe try to get to the toilet when he feels he has to poo to avoid the clean up! Good Luck!

Reward him with something great if he does. I did this with my own children and it worked great. I would put a little mini pack of m&ms on the shelf where they could see it. I told them they could have it whenever they pottied in the toilet. It worked great for me. And since some people wouldn't agree with whole candy thing, most kids only poop once a day at the most so it wasn't enough to hurt them. Also, please know that making him sit there will never do anything but upset him and yourself. If he is sitting there he will only accidently go. They have to learn to feel the urge and react to it or they will never go on their own.

Make the toilet experience like a toy! Buy a doll and a mini toilet put them in the same room. When your bay does show him the doll doing it too. Make the bathroom more like a playground. How can you make the bathroom experience entertaining and enjoyable experhence for the tod,? Do it even he it means replacing the boring rough tissue paper with the specially made for kids- colorful and with pictures?

keep a "prize box" handy and tell him he gets a prize every time he goes, I filled mine w/ little 99 cent toys, stickers, i would also occasionally 2 or 3 mm's at a time.

You could make a "game" out of it......give him treats or rewards for doing it the right way.
