"The fool who thinks he is wise is just a fool. The fool who knows he is a fool is wise indeed"
- Buddha -

I have mulled over this quote for a long time and think it pertains to agnosticism being the only true path (Buddhists are agnostics) since we cannot logically know either way and Buddha also said:

"Believe nothing.
No matter where you read it,
Or who said it,
Even if I have said it,
Unless it agrees with your own reason
And your own common sense"
- Buddha -

What are your thoughts on this?

Suzy, Buddhists are agnostics, I am one. Buddha told us to neither believe nor to disbelieve in a higher power. We do not believe in any spiritual power.

I think he makes a lot of sense. I think the reason religion is so volatile is because too many people are so convinced of their own correctness. Maybe if they learnt some humility their wouldn't be such conflict.

I don't think Buddhists are agnostic - they just believe in a different spiritual power than God, as we understand him in a Christian society. Buddha is basically saying what your Mom always said "If all your friends were jumping off a bridge, would you do it to?" In other words, no matter what you see or hear, if you don't feel it's right - then it's NOT right for you.

Skepticism and agnosticism leads to people thinking that a faith based solution is the only moral solution.
Agnostics are believers, they just know as the Catholics know, that God can never be known to us. Which is an irrational thing to belive in. Something that is virtually unknowable.
Thus Atheist is the only rational choice.
Believe only what passes the tests of logic and reason. Fools belive what feels right.

Personally I don't know if agnosticism ( the claim reality is unknowable ) is true or not, So I don't make any such claim.
