I CAN'T STAND when people think they have the right to say this. In my opinion (and everyone close to me) I am perfectly normal and look fine. I am not anorexic, nor do I look it, and I eat whatever the hell I want. What is up with this?

Trust me - I KNOW I am not anorexic or bulemic. I eat what I want, when I want - and do not throw it up.

Say "Moo," every time you talk to her.

Just politely smile, and say that you enjoy being healthy.
Don't let these people make you feel insecure. It is your body and as long as you know you are not abusing it, it is no one's business just because you are not, or don't want to be, a lard@s* like them. I used to get this comment all the time when I was at my ideal weight. Now that I am a little older, I have to watch what I eat more than I used to have to. I am about 15 pounds over my ideal weight, and I feel uncomfortable. The sick part of it is that some people accept me better like this. I still look ok, but not good enough to incite envy at the pool, know what I mean? My advice to you would be to ignore negative people- it is they who have a skewed view of things, not you- take care of yourself, and be who you are!

Don't say a word. Half the world is fighting to be skinny and if you are slim then you are envied by a lot of people. If you are a young person, wait a little while as you will fill out and they will all be envious of you.. Yes they are rude, but when they are couch potatoes you will look 10 years younger and be healthier that they are.. All overweight people have health problems because of it..

Have you ever made fun of an overweight person? If so, now you know how it feels.
Two wrongs don't make a right. The next time someone says this to you, smile politely and say, "Thanks for your advice." and move on.
One question--are people telling you this all the time? If it's a regular occurrence, you may actually be too thin. I've heard that anorexia and bulemia are actually mental disorders, too. You think you're too fat, but you're really not.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Two women were talking in line at the bank about trying to lose weight and one of them said she needs to starve herself in order to lose. Then she turned around and looked right at me and said, "right"? I wasn't even involved in the conversation it was one of the rudest things I have ever experienced.
I said, "I have no idea, I love to eat!"
I'm not even skinny per say. 5'8 and 136lbs.
A healthy ideal weight.
If an overweight person walks by, I would never dream of saying anything to them or behind their backs. People suck sometimes

Tell them to go jump..... that's is so rude, i don't understand how ppl can just open and speak without having any concerns on what the other person may feel from their comments, you sound like you go a good head on yr shoulder, stuff them and the comments , they are probably jealous of how good you look ..

I know what you're talking about and I hate it too. Like this one a$$hole that bought me a cheesecake...later on I found out he did that as to encourage me to "put a little weight on". I told him I could eat all the cheesecake in the world that I wanted to and still not be as rotund as he is.

Guaranteed the comment is coming from a person with weight issues herself. No need to respond.

The ones who say it aren't being mean. Actually, they are probably just a little envious. I say enjoy the attention. It's better being skinny than fat. Lighten up a little. Don't take things so seriously.

Just think that they may be saying this out of concern. In that case, say thanks and that you're not hungry. If you feel that they are really jealous and want you to get fat like them, then find other friends who are more like you. Fun, relaxed, and not obsessed with getting you fat.
Good luck, girl.

My mother in law tells my wife this every time she sees her. Quite annoying. Of course she buys my wife clothes that are three sizes too small and wonders why she does not wear them.
