If you're planning on doing your test soon, then you should have had lessons by now. You don't just grab a couple of lessons and that's it. It's a lot harder than that. Also, your instructor should decide when you sit your test, not you. He/she is more in a position to know when you are ready so you don't waste time and money sitting a test you won't pass. Sorry if that's not what you meant. It's just how your question sounds.

Go for a local independent instructor to get a slightly cheaper price.

Remember you have to sit your theory + hazard perception tests first before your practical test. Theory test costs £21.50.

T buy the driving school will cost you alot more than £20...just buy a few lession first!!

Depends on where you are. If you are in Scotland there is no point recommending one in Wales
