This is a two step process, first as you know you are prone to blistering, purchase some moleskin or if you're like me and can't seem to get that to work, put band-aides on the spots that tend to blister. Make sure you wear fitted socks, so you don't have movement in your shoe while you're running. Socks that wick the moisture away from your feet are better too.
If you rub the skin raw and used moleskin or band-aides, you are less apt to get the blister with the puss but more like a carpet burn
Two: Once you get the blister and you open it (DON"T TAKE THE SKIN OFF AFTER YOU DRAIN IT), treat it like a burn you got in the kitchen, apply ice and cool water to the area. Soothe the area-- it may alleviate some of the subsequent burn you get in the shower. Cover the area with gauze and allow your feet to breathe to dry the area out (so the skin will fall off easily on its own). Powder your feet and inside your socks to help keep them dry.
** My buddy in boot camp claimed aloe rub worked well to heal and soften the skin...but I cannot attest to this.

Blisters...such a pain if you ask me! I play soccer and i get blisters all the time! It really is sore!
I have seen that some people have been telling you not to pop your blisters! This is wrong!! You have to pop your blisters with a needle to get rid of the sweat. Blisters are caused from the continuous rub from something rubbing on your feet which makes a bubble with liquid. That liquid is like sweat and needs to come out! So burst the blister and once you have burst it cover it with an ointment. Keep using the ointment until the blister has healed. If you run again put a plaster over the blister just while you run so that you don't make it worse or cause another new one.
Have a look at this link for steps to healing a blister. They do say that you shouldn't burst a blister unless it is in an awkward place such as your foot but i personally think that bursting the blisters helps it to heal quicker.

The better question would be: How do I prevent myself from getting blisters during a run?
I used to have a major problem with blisters. After only a few miles, I would have 2- 3 blisters. I then discovered the wonderful world of running socks. WrightSock makes some great anti-blister socks. My favorite pair is double layered. I haven't had a problem with blisters since. After the San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon I had 0 blisters. I counted 13 on my boyfriend's feet, who used regular socks. You can get WrightSocks at just about any running shoe store. I've heard of some people putting BodyGlide on their feet before putting their socks on. BodyGlide can also be purchased at any good running store.
If you STILL get blisters, drain them with a clean needle. Afterwards, you can put blister pads on it to let it heal.

Blisters were a common thing after wearing boots the whole day and week when I was in the army.
I usually leave it if they are small, cos it heals faster. I will pop the bigger ones with a safety pin or needle, cos if I leave it,the skin will harden and I will get blisters at the same spot again and again.
I will never peel the skin off cos it will then take away many of the topmost protective skin layers and allow my inner layers of skin exposed for infection.
I usually solve the problem of blisters by changing the insole of my boots or shoes if I realise I am getting more blisters than I should....and it works.
Also, I would fill the my socks with prickly heat powder each time I wear them, to keep my feet dry and comfy.
Cheers!

First of all, do not pop, drain or break the blisters on purpose. This can lead to a VERY serious infection that could be life threatening. My cousin popped her blister and got an infection and was in the hospital for a week on antibiotic therapy.
Next to ease the pain of blisters, if they are broken already cover them with an antibiotic ointment (polysporin) and a band-aid. You can get polysporin that will also help to numb the pain. Then the next time you run you can also get a special covering called second skin. It is like a band-aid but it is a gel cushion for over the blister. It is sold at drug stores.
Finally you should do your best to prevent blisters. I would suggest wearing two thin pairs of socks in your shoes instead of one so they can rub against each other and not your foot. Make sure your shoes fit properly and are laced tightly.
Good luck and I hope this helps!

Anytime you use a needle on a blister there's a risk for serious infection. If it's a very small blister and not likely to burst on it's own , some Dr's. advise cushioning it with moleskin ( found in stores) .If it is large and painful-have a doctor drain it .If it developes prolonged pain;redness;oozing pus ;yellow crusting or red lines away from the blister-seek medical attention as this is a medical alert..you could loose a limb or worse if untreated .
With the best case scenario-keep it very clean -use Neosporin ointment and a band-aid . If you absolutely must break the blister yourself-sterilize the needle first .

Instead of lancing the blisters, take a hot bathe first allowing your skin to prune and exfoliate. If you chose to lance the blister at that point it will be easier. Dry your feet completely then treat the new skin with Hydrogen peroxide and a clean bandage. The Hydrogen peroxide will help dry and age the new skin. The bandage will protect it while it dries. Later you can put some neosporyn on the dry skin to keep it from scarring so much.

I have a condition called E.B which means my skin blisters on my hands and feet for no reason at all. Trust me I have experiance in this. If the blister is bigger than a 50p piece burst it with a clean needle onto a cotton surface. Cover with a clean dressing, do not pull of the skin as this protects the new skin that is forming below it, this just means you get another blister below the one you have. If you did pull of the skin bath it in salt luke warm water. Wear cotton socks when you have blisters as it allows the skin to breath
