It means you can tear it away... What is it in reference to?

Tear away means getting away from something or some place. I've got to tear away from hear before I blow my stack. I hate to tear away from this conversation, but I have too much to do to stay hear with idle chit chat. etc.

If you tear someone away from activity, you force them to stop doing the activity, even though they want to carry on.
