I still think more or less the same as when I was young. Why are so many of my generation so boring with no sence of adventure?

I used to skydive when young and would love to do it again

People give up. As we age, we realize that we have to yield right of way to the younger generation. The younger generation does not believe that the older generation is capable of youthful thoughts desires and actions. I am 62 and believe me, my thoughts are young and so is my mind but younger people just dont buy in that I can be youthful or joyous in "old age." There is a sterotype of what older people are supposed to be... So what happens with alot of older people is that they just give up and believe that youth is not for them. They allow themselves to become old and stoggy and suppress the "youthful" thoughts and activities out of fear at being laughed at by younger people. They also lose confidence because of this fear of looking foolish. Once your confidence is gone, your sense of adventure can go away. So forget other people's perception of old and go sky dive if you want to. Believe me, there are alot of us older people that are alot more exciting than you realize.

No matter how young anyone might think they are when you get older the body knows the increased risk of injury and frailty as you age. There is no getting away with that, and it would be foolish to think the body matches the mind. You can still be active but not quite in the same way as before. You adjust. If for example you kept up with skydiving then you'd be ok to continue even now provided the muscular-skeletal fitness is up to scratch.

The mind stays young even when processes within the mind are cchanging to accomodate the eventuality of dying (from natural
causes). Some are more aware of this than others but it's there never the less. I've worked with the elderly and they all say they were aware of a slowing down process more in the sense of a relaxation of energy but at the same time did not affect their youngish outlook. It was a combining of two different processes going on within. A preparation of going while still retaining their youthful mind. The mind prepares a pregnant body for giving birth to new life. It also does the same at the end of it. Because both are natural and the human body and psyche is built for both.

Wishing for it and doing it are separated as time goes on.

Some people are more curious that others about everything in life. I find those people don't change due to age. I'm 48, in college and changing careers - nothing wrong with that. Some people don't value the "wise" experiences of their elders - there is much to be transmitted and sadly, our media and culture tend to favor the young and bypass the older. Note how many silly commercials are on tv about incontinence and need for sexual enhancement drugs. They make older people appear to be nothing but a set of problems. It's high time that media represents a more balanced view.

It is called responsibilty. When you're young and have no ties or worries it is easier to take a risk. Family and mortgages mean you can't just do whatever you want, because there is more at stake if it all goes wrong. Sorry but that's life...thank god I'm 21 and haven't got that far. Now, where is my parachute?

We have no choice but force to accept.
To accept the fact that we have been warned thrice before we are dead.....
The god that I believe indeed very passion to sent out 3 letters to us before we are going to die soon: these 3 letters are:
1. What colour is our hair now? Are we turning from Gray/Black to white?
2. Our body parts, is it deteriorate?
3. Our teeth...how many left?

I think u have receive ure, maybe one or two letters but
I am lucky now i havent receive any of those letter above....but I am sure i will receive it soon, in a couples of years more, no one can escape coz we are all human.

The ones that have children are the old boring farts you speak of. It has been hinted (scientifically) that when a woman gives birth her brain chemically changes and she doesn't have that adventurous spirit anymore. Same with fathers....they get lazier and lazier.

They follow the herd. I like to steer far, but within range. Somewhere close to their mind-frame, but i don't want to be exactly the same. Stepford Wives isn't my thing either.

Pardon the steer and herd thing. It's just the way i worded it lol.

Some of us just realize that the body has aged and can't do what it could. Mind is still active but smart enough to know we can't go do what we could in our twenties.
