My little girl's hair seems to have hardly grown in a year..and it is very thin (particularly on top) and dry and brittle/fuzzy at the ends. I am a little worried she has a dietary deficiency or something. Anyone have a similar prob? Thx

Yes, it's completely normal. I know this because all of my little cousins growing up had the same problem. They all had thin brittle hair and one of them had bald spots everywhere. We had all sorts of nicknames for her, but she's 19 now and completely gorgeous!!

It really depends on you and the fathers' genetics. Do you or he have blonde or red hair? If so, it's possible your daughters hair is still going through a "baby" phase. It may fall out and then come back in full and thick. Ask grandparents/your parents what your hair was like when you were younger. At any rate, I would go to your pediatrician just to make sure it's not a dietary deficiancy... I doubt it, but it's never to be safe than sorry. There's also an immune disease known as alopecia areata which slows or completely stops all hair growth on the body. It only affects about 1 in 5 million americans, but this is "Answers" so I thought I'd give you all I got! Good luck!

yes, like somebody already said, shaving the head can stimulate hair growth.

to have perfect hair, though, the best solution is nutrition and care. i suggest Nutrilite Daily (multivitamin supplement made from whole crushed alfalfa, watercress, parsley, spinach, carrots, and acerola cherries) and Nutrilite Hair, Skin, & Nails (natural vit C from acerola cherries, vit E, and collagen). they're not sold in the shops, but if you're in N. America you can buy it from www.quixtar.com. if you're anywhere else in the world, go to my homepage to send me an email and i'll help you find out how you can get it.

as for hair, if it really is dry and brittle (and maybe still baby hair?) abstain from shampoo (ok, maybe once a week if it gets really munky) and just massage in some rich nourishing conditioner instead daily. i recommend ProTique Moisturising Conditioner, also available through Quixtar.

I was bald until I was 2. And then until about the age of 9 I had that thin kind of hair. Then it bacame very thick after that. Now my hair is long, healthy, shiny, and strong. So it could change. My mom did keep cutting my hair short when I was younger on the advice of other's; saying it may make my hair thicker. So who knows maybe it did work.

yes,its perfectly normal.when i was 2,my mum used to feel embarrassed when someone visited, because i had very little hair, she used to put a hat on my head before answering the door.my own daughter didnt have much hair at that age either,by the time she was 3 and a half yrs old it eventually started growing.i now realise she's going to have the same hair as me,mine is now frizzy and i have to wet it before i can style it,exactly what i have to do with my daughter.dont worry her hair will grow soon,

my first child was like this and it was worrying however her hair did grow and when it did it was really beautiful - by the age of four she had long ringlets she could sit on! I think some baby shampoos are terribly harsh. less washing really helps or find a mild shampoo which is not one of those on the shelf at the local supermarket

When you wash her hair use a nickel-sized squeeze of conditioner.. Put it throughout her hair, and rinse it really good.. I'd even trim off just a tad off of her hair ends.. This helps the hair to grow faster, cutting off the split ends.. Also, my mom used too take the points of her fingernails, and poke our heads with them to get us to laugh, but, I read recently this stimulates the head, and helps the hair to grow... So you might want to do this with your little girl, not just for "Fun" but, also to help her hair grow a little faster.. And "No" she doesn't have anything wrong with her hair, this is all from sleeping on it, and or her bottle leaking in her hair... She just needs some TLC, and hair attention.. Dont worry she'll get a nice set of hair coming in by the time she's 4.. Stimulate, her scalp, with the tips of your fingernails, and she'll duck her head, and thinks its cool.. and laugh, and this will help her hair grow, faster!! We all just loved it when our mom did this with all of us!!! And I do it, to my kids, more so when they were little!! They loved it, when I did that to them!!! Good-Luck, and dont worry too much, she's just fine!!! Smile!!!

my daughter was like that i know it sounds drastic but trim off the ends to in courage new growth also try the Avon children's shampoos this will help to. if your child has cradle cap this can also stop growth use a small amount of olive oil and rub into the scalp every night this will help good luck sweetheart and don't worrie.
