how can a person or baby born be a christian, jew, muslim, athiest, agnostic, unitarian, methodist, catholic, hindu?

don't babies pretty much need care and cannot speak or understand much, let alone our silly beliefs and reason to fight and hate each other?

can't any person convert to a religion?

how is it we say kids are born a ***?

my family raised me evangelical, forced it down my throat, of course when I could legally leave, I did and I heretically chose my faith

I would say a child is born an atheist as they have no concept of god or a higher being. Its only as they grow, learn, and are taught about 'god' that the concept of religion becomes apparent.

You hear the same in other contexts.

I was born a Texan. Or I was raised as a vegetarian. My family is all Green Bay Packers fans.

I don't know, but I think some religions have milestones that represent the passing of time. Perhaps the age of 13 is one.

It is no surprise that a family would raise a child in their faith.

The baby is born into a family and raised in a certain way, and like you said, when the baby matures and becomes a man than he can decide whatever he chooses to do, that's the beauty of Free choice.

When some-one says that a person is born (__), or a person is from this religious background, it really is up to that individual.

Example: I had no choice in being raised as a Methodist, but when I was old enough to know more about God, I choose to worship Him in a way that worked for me such as going to a praying church that involves the Holy Spirit/Jesus and God the Father.

So to answer your question.. Its all about God and how you may please Him. Whatever makes you comfortable as long as it all about HIM.

I think you've answered your own question. People say their children are 'born Protestant' for example, until the children find their own faith. My mother was born 'Methodist', but is now non-denomination. I was born non-denomination, but now lean towards Buddhism.

Until children leave their home, they are considered, by their parents and friends only, to be the religion of their 'upbringing' thus far in life.

When a child enters into this world he is of no religion. It is assumed that he will be whatever his parents religion he will be the same.
I was offered up into Nazarene which is a break way from pentecostal but when i got older i chose to follow the Way of Ifa. My mom is cool with it to. But she didn't force anything down my throat.
That's just how messed up christianity has us.

generally because of what the parents are. the child once old enough to make their own decisions should be allowed to invoke their privilege of free will and freedom of choice. until this time however the parents have the right and duty to rear their child as they see fit in order for the child to take its place in the Culture and Society.

Actually, all babies are born agnostic. They don't learn about God or religion or indeed, anything until they get older

It is so sad when evangelical "force their faith down the throats" of their children.

They do need to expose them regularly to it, of course. This is their duty. But they must be gentle about other people, including sinners of course. God does the judging and vengeance is His.

I think it's a form of child abuse to say a child is born a ...whatver religious label. Let them choose their own path when they are old enough to do so.
