You don't mention the age of your son, but I'll still tell you what helped with my daughter. We bought those binders with the clear plastic slot on the outside of the front. They are supposed to be for title pages, but we have 1 binder per subject and she slips her homework into that slot on the front of the binder so when she pulls it out for class, the homework is right on top! Now we have to find a way to remember work that's in workbooks, etc and can't be slipped in!

Both of my children have the same trouble with remembering. Our school has implemented a program for grades 3 thru 6 (I think) where the kids have daily planners. The kids write what the assignment is for that subject. If they didn't finish the assignment, then it goes home. If they did finish, they check it off. The teacher signs it and checks that all assignments are listed.
The neat thing to keep the parent involved is that they have to sign the planner each day to verify that the work has been done. It seems like a lot at first, but it gets easier for everyone to be sure homework is getting done.
The teacher and parents can communicate in the planner as well. If you want to let the teacher know of something that happened or an up coming event, or if the teacher needs to tell you about a positive (or negative) behavior, they can initiate the conversation in the planner. And no child is singled out, because every child has one.
Good Luck

I have always thought my whole life that I had ADD or ADHD, but my mother never believed in taking me to the doctor (to be put on meds.) The way I would remember things in school (and still to this day) is by association. A couple examples- to remember which way was north, east, etc., I would use Never Eat Soggy Waffles (North East South West.) Or say you had to remember the name of of a president (say Garfield...) I would remember the cartoon Garfield and associate that. I hope you understand what I am explaining....
As far as remembering to turn in homework, get a big folder with many different folders inside and label each folder for the days of the week. Help him put the assignments in the folder of when they are due. Have him make it a habit to look in that folder everyday before class is over to make sure if anything needs to be turned in. Good Luck!

my daughter has trouble handing in her homework too. I just keep reminding her and praising her when she turns it in. Negative reinforcement never worked with her it seemed like it just made her worse and feel bad about herself. I made handing in her homework one of her chores and she only gets her allowance if she does all of her chores ($1 a day for handing in homework cleaning room before bed and brushing teeth) It seems like the more structured and organized I make everything for her the better she does.

properly, if the faculty would not furnish them with task notebooks (for a small value of like $5) then i might the two A) go purchase one for her and teach her the thank you to place in writing down all her matters and write down what the duty is for each subject, and then have her examine it off if she gets it achieved at school so she is familiar with what to convey homestead. It makes for stable organizational behavior for top college and faculty. or B) Make task sheets for her and make copies of them, and deliver one along with her regular. back, exhibiting her the thank you to fill out each line (I propose writing down all the matters they study at school, and making lines next to one and all) along with her homework task, and furnish her with a sprint examine field to study it off while she is finished with it. Make a variety of pastime out of it, if she recollects to do her task magazine x volume of days, reward her with a sprint compliment, and perhaps a sprint take care of. I propose in all probability emailing her instructor to boot just to work out if she will form of over see the coaching your are doing at homestead, and perhaps preliminary her task laptop or task sheet on a daily basis, so your daughter recollects.
