I've never heard of anyone baptizing themselves not in early Christian times or now. Regardless it is a very serious decision.
I encourage you to study the scriptures.

To become a friend of God, you must obtain a good knowledge of Bible truth (1 Timothy 2:3, 4), put faith in the things you have learned (Hebrews 11:6), repent of your sins (Acts 17:30, 31), and turn around in your course of life. (Acts 3:19) Then your love for God should move you to dedicate yourself to him. This means that in a personal, private prayer you tell him that you are giving yourself to him to do his will.—Matthew 16:24; 22:37.

2. After you have made your dedication to God, you should be baptized. (Matthew 28:19, 20) Baptism lets everyone know that you have dedicated yourself to Jehovah. So baptism is only for those who are old enough to make a decision to serve God. When a person is baptized, his whole body should be put under the water momentarily.*—Mark 1:9, 10; Acts 8:36.

3. After you have made a dedication, Jehovah will expect you to live up to your promise. (Psalm 50:14; Ecclesiastes 5:4, 5) T By doing all of this, you will gain the strength to stay faithful to God. For all eternity you thus can do the things that God requires of you!

There is no scriptural support for this. In each and every instance where baptism is mentioned, there is a believer there who receives the confession of that person's faith, then administers the baptism.

Even Jesus requested John the Baptist baptize Him. If you were correct, it would have been ok for Jesus to baptize Himself.

Only a Born Again believer is considered to be God's child (see John 1:12-13 and John 3:5).

Peace.

Can A Person Baptize Themselves

You cannot baptize yourself. Baptism is a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ; therefore it must be done in the presence of other believers and must be performed by an ordained minister. Water baptism has nothing to do with being saved. Contrary to the dogma of some denominations, water baptism is not required for salvation. Baptism by the Holy Spirit is required, and this comes at the time that a person first truly believes in the atoning grace of Jesus Christ.

A person who truly believes in Jesus Christ can be baptized. You need to know where your forgiveness for sins comes from, and it's Christ.
You need to ask Him into your heart.

It's my limited understanding that true worship is a group thing. (This makes it difficult for shy or unorthodox people.) It appeared to me that Jesus was validating the Godliness of man when he allowed John to baptize him. He was sorta saying that we do this TOGETHER. There's even a reference to whenever MORE THAN ONE person comes together in [Jesus'] name, he is there. I apologize for any errors or omissions.

The act of babtism does not save you. This is done to publicly proclaim that you have given your life to Jesus. You were saved the moment you asked God for forgiveness and proclaimed Jesus as Lord. The best thing you could do is talk with your Pastor, this is his job to counsel you in your decision.

I saw the movie THE APPOSTLE, and in it Robert DuVall baptized himself, so I wonder the same thing, too. Does it matter to God?

That's an interesting question. I've never really thought about it. It really doesn't matter anyway because Baptism doesn't save anybody. It's just an outward show, signifying what has or should have already taken place in your heart. Go down a sinner, come up a sinner. It's your faith in Christ and His finished work that makes you saved.
