Because they're illiterate and they're taught to believe everything their militant leaders tell them. If the Muslim leaders didn't react so viscerally to the Pope's speech, the proletariat, purposely kept illiterate by their leaders, wouldn't be killing nuns and firebombing churches.
Really it's ironic. It's not the Pope's words that got the masses roiling in the streets, it's the violence in the leaders' verbal reactions to the Pope, and then they blame the Pope rather than their own intolerance, unwillingness to dialogue, and domination of their followers.

I would guess it's because the particular "denomination" of Islam that is most dominant is pretty extreme.
As for the defense that Christians fought the crusades, that's completely irrelevant. It's over and done, and that is not the character of the majority of Christians today. It really wasn't the character of the early Christians either. Constantine was originally completely opposed to war altogether. I think it was a political thing that got him involved in wars, not religious.

Wel i guess ya'll do not like to fight for anything only moderniz it to make fit yr life style. But we as Muslim repsect are Prophet and if u do not respect yours then fine no muslim will set by and let you people insult or Prophet meaning Muhammed. and Jesus you do not care even the bible insults its own... so i cannot expect any better from you. Volience doesnot solve everything but things can be done in a respectful manner what u see by most Muslim is there feeling over commig them. but just because you feel strong does not mean u hurt others.

yes, they are way over sensitive and can not handle any objective questioning or comments regarding their fake prophet and god... it is clear to all that their religion is not "Peace" and it is clear to all that they live life by pure myth.
Imagine how upset an eight year child becomes when they find out that santa claus does nto exist. Its the same for muslims, apart from they dont just get upset, they start threatening all and sundry who dont agree with their supertitious beliefs... and then blow sh*t up.
Yes, islam is weak, over all, and the normal world is eventually going to crush this plague called 'islam'

it's all about moral fiber. It's not just Mohammed, if u tell something bad about their family it will happen the same thing. I think people should show some respect. It's like ur hurting their pesonality and feelings. How would u feel if someone tells u that ur girlfriend is ugly?
and forget about dan brown. I think he would sell his own mother just to write a good book and make money.

Muslims are not very powerful, and they are jealous of those who are, and they are also insecure.
Part of their insecurity shows up as wild over-sensitivity.
They also have conspiracy theories as to why they are not powerful. Such as: "blame the Jews", and then they hate anyone who supports the Jews, such as the USA.
Funny thing is - if Israel were to disappear, they wouldn't be any more powerful - they would probably be in worse shape, since so many Arabs depend on Israel.

Of course people will disagree with this. No one wants to hear about their own religion's transgressions
