Have you ever been in an intimate relationship in which you broke it off because you didn't feel you were ready for a lifelong commitment, only later to realize you made a mistake? Were you later able to work things out with your partner? How long did it take you to realize she really was the one, and how did you go about starting the relationship over again?

Funny story.

Was in a relationship with a wonderful woman who was just intelligent enough, just ambitious enough, and just perverted enough to keep me satisfied for the rest of my days.

I wouldn't commit to a exclusive relationship at first. In truth, I was scared that I would cheat on her, or she'd find out about my video game addiction, or something would happen and ruin it. She was just that great, and I didn't want to f it up.

... I bet you can finish the story for me from here. Yes, she got tired of waiting (in a final bit of irony, I had finally gotten over my fear and was going to tell her that I wanted her to be the only one *the very same day* she called to explain that she wasn't going to wait anymore).

We're just friends now. I hope to one day get back to where we used to be, but I don't think it's going to happen (though not from lack of effort on my part... after all, anything worth having is worth fighting for).

And the moral of this story? Don't let fear rule you.

Only time I ever did this, I was 17... just getting out of high school.

In hindsight, she was the best girl I ever had in every way. She's married with a couple of kids now, so there's no going back.
