my mother is 55 years old and for the past 12+ years she has been complaining of all the symptoms of bilary duct disease. it has only been recently that they have diagnose her with that. every time she had an attack they never knew what was wrong. now that they know she meets all the criteria for having her gallbladder removed but the surgeon who examined her said she does not present with jaundice so he feels she should wait. the problem with that is she cant keep any food down and is consistently loosing weight. she is just over 5 feet tall and weighs approx. 110 lbs. this question is for any medical proffesionals.. is it standard to wait until the patient has jaundice? at that point it may be too late and once jaundice is present with all the other severe symptoms her organs may fail and she may die. she is a veteran at the VA hosp. in texas. how can we (the family) get them to perform the surgery NOW before it is too late.

Try the Homeopathic Remedy IPECAC 30 thrice a day, cures nausea and vomiting and has worked where all conventional remedies have failed it wont complicate her case in anyway neither would it give her an side effects. It would be better if you give her complete symptoms exactly the way she feels them including all modalities so an appropriate remedy can be prescribed according to her symptoms. Homeopathy treats the person the whole person from head to toes not the disease or disorder so the patients individual symptoms are needed to find the exact remedy or you can take her to a Homeopathic Physician and you will be surprised how fast she will get well and totally without any side effects or complications.
Take Care and God Bless you and you Mother !

I had my gall bladder removed and I never had jaundiced. I had numerou stones that caused me to have pain, vomitting, diarhea, etc, etc. As soon as they diagnosed the problem, they scheduled my surgery. My folks as veterans but they also have individual health insurance. I'm not sure if this is your mother's case or not. I would definately seek a private physician to take care of this problem if they won't do it.

Seek another opinion. Most surgeons would have taken that gallbladder out by now unless she has serious medical problems that would be concerning when talking about the anesthesia for the procedure.

That could be the problem right there.....the V.A. hospital. She needs to go to a civilian doctor for another opinion. Gallbladder removal is a very common procedure and has a very high success rate (I am living proof!).

You don't mention whether she has other medical conditions/history that could be causing their delay--but she REALLY needs to see someone else. Try to get her to a private gastroenterologist.

You need to get your mother to another hospital right away. My daughter had to have hers out at 19. My friend at 50. She had no money so the Dr waived her fees and the hospital helped her out too. With my daughter they ran test and told me I had to wait 2 weeks for the results. The nurse told me if I took her to the emergency room they would have to read the results right away. We did and she had surgery right away. Please do not wait for the doc. Go somewhere else now.

Unless there are medical contraindications, I would have her in surgery at once with this history and the presence of stones.

"this question is for any medical proffesionals"

I doubt there are any reading your question or who are prepared to answer your question.

If you are not happy with the original diagnosis, seek a second opinion.
