"On electricity" is a very broad category indeed. He could research all the various forms of electricity (that is, the methods by which the electricity is generated) available for households in your area, for example. Or he could do something about the history of battery technology. Or he could recount why Ben Franklin's experiment with kite and key proved that lightening is electrical in nature. (There's your historical battery.)
