DIP THE SUN FLOWER HEAD IN SOME MELTED DRIPPING FAT THEN COOL IT OFF THEN HANG IT WELL OUT OF REACH FROM CATS THE MELTED COOL FAT WILL PREVENT THE SEEDS FROM DROPPING ON THE GROUND WHERE CATS WILL GET THE BIRDS

You could always take the seeds out of the head for the birds and just put them in your feeder, but yes you can just hang it upside down and the birdies will use the head itself to hang onto while they grab the seeds...

No, just put it on the ground. Birds don't have any table manners plus that nice little Tibbles next door won't have to work so hard for a snack.

just set it somewhere, off the ground..you'll be surprised that the birds will find it fast....maybe you can tie it from a tree branch, with some string...have fun watching....
