Chili - brown the ground beef, add a can of red kidney beans, chili powder or a package of chili seasoning, mushrooms / onions / celery if you like those, 1 can diced tomatoes, cook on low for an hour.

Let me count the ways. Ground beef is very versatile. Since you are a new cook, I would keep it simple. Cook your favorite pasta according to package directions, them brown the ground beef in a frying pan with half a chopped onion, some garlic powder, italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. When browned, remove the meat from the pan onto a plate with some paper towels on it. Dump the grease out of the pan, put in your favorite canned pasta sauce, a can of diced tomatoes, drained, and add the meat mixture back in. Add some salt, pepper, and italian seasoning to the sauce because the diced tomatoes weren't seasoned, make some garlic bread and a tossed salad, and you have pasta with meat sauce and all the trimmings. Yummy and easy.

One of the most awesome lazy recipes I've ever encountered and prepared is to brown the ground beef, stir in a family-size can of cream of mushroom soup, and then serve the whole mess over some instant rice. Throw some onions and garlic in with the ground beef while it's browning, for extra flavor. Garlic powder is fine if you don't have fresh, but don't use garlic salt - there's plenty of salt in the canned soup.
