I am new at these and she mated with a dog from a good breader

you wont be able to tell yet. You will have to wait about four weeks after the mating to know for sure. The female will have to have an ultrasound or a phsical by the vet to tell for sure. Its all a waiting game at the mo. But if the two dogs were watched whilst mating, and they 'tied' together...then the girl will almost definately be pregnant..

After 21days you can see on a ultrasound scan. At this stage I have also had the odd b itch that has had moring sickness.
Failing that she will start to swell around the tummy and the teats will grow and become more prominent. Look carefully because if she is only carrying a few pups she is a big enough dog to hid it so you wont know until the last couple of weeks and then only from underneath.

More clueless backyard breeders!!! Maybe you could go to the VET and get the blood test, or an ultrasound...both when the time is right. I am sure you do not know when that is, so the vet would be helpful there. The thing is, most backyard breeders DO NOT want to spend money getting these tests to confirm the pregnancy, since it would cut into the puppy profits!!!!!!!!
Maybe ask the Magic 8 ball??/ That is pretty cheap!

The best option would be to take her to the vets for confirmation and to check that she is in optimum health and to get any advice that the vet may give.

after 3 to 4 weeks her nipples should turn pink, check now so you'll notice the change. (loll's secrets)

with my female she stopped,bleeding afer a couple of days after the male had locked on.
good luck its hard work with lots of pups, but its a wonderful experience. she had 10! And we had to bottle feed them!!!!!!!!!!!!!
