The meaning the media gives to this word (Jihad) is false. This word does not mean a holy war, for there is nothing holy about a war in Islam (submission). There are times when war is tolerated, permitted and even, in some case, to a point accepted, but never considered holy. Islam (Submission) is a religion of peace, no matter what certain media or deranged individuals say or claim. Islam (Submission) revolves around the concept of peace.

Pope said. "He said, I quote, 'Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.'" Benedict added "I quote" twice to make it clear these were someone else's words.

No. Islam does not practice missionary techniques like evangelical Christians do. They do not promote the spread of the religion in any other means other than simple curiousity through the way in which many (not all) Muslims live their lives.
Jihad, in Islam, means a personal struggle with which God will help you through....Not a holy war.
A Holy War is a made up term used by people with political agendas to entice fear and hatred among a group of people. It's a pathetic term that bears no resemblance to the true meaning of Jihad taught in Islam.

Jihad actually means striving for the cause of Allah .
See these,
" Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you but donot transgress . Indeed, Allah doesn't like transgressors . Fight them until there is no injustice but if they cease then there is to be no aggression except against the oppressors "
Islam doesnot favour fighting to force someone to believe . It only permits to fight in the cause of Allah and that too when someone attacks you alone .It is against joining someone by force to Islam .It is the most broadminded religion as it is stated that one should never harm the religious belief of others .It says for him is his religion and to you is yours .
It is a pity that some of the muslims have forgotten the holy Quran and the words of God almighty .Still they call them muslims .
You should first of all understand the religion before making comments about it . Atleast you should have gone through the Quran by yourself .
Regarding the words of the Pope I am ashamed to find that such words have crept up from the mouth of a person holding such a respectable position .This itself shows the difference between the two religions . A true muslim would never have wounded the feelings of another religion .I dont think that cristianity also allows such things .I feel that it is just the reflection of his personality alone and no other cristian would do it .
Once more I like to say that Prophet Muhammed was a humanbeing and he only preached what God had asked him .He never had the power or knowledge even within himself to create something new .He was an illiterate and how come things which he said came to be true after his life if it weren't the words of God ?
He led by example leaving a simple life when he had many oppurtunity to be rich . He never told he was more than just a human being and surely he is the last messenger of Allah .
Benedict cannot be excused by saying "i quote"
Will anyone quote those words said by others unless and until he supports it or accepts it???

No. I have studied Islam. And like all humans, everybody
talks like he is the expert. But they all say different things.
My heart tells me Muhammad was a warrior/priest. Like
the Shaolin monks in China. Who were holy men. But when
their monasteries were attacked, and their monks slain by
barbarians, understood the wisdom in defending onesself.
Muhammad taught to give quarter in battle. ( Don't kick a
man whens he's down). Show mercy. And forbade mutilation
of a persons body.
He was a true warrior, that knew when to fight. And when to put an end to the fighting. Prophets are not responsible for those
who lay claim to them to satisfiy their own ends. Even Jesus
Christ was used as an excuse to kill and maim in times past.

I agree, I am a Christian, but I am thinking of how someone proclaiming to be the faithful of Islam, could take an innocent civilian and slowly saw his head off on television.
I am glad that this is not all of the Muslims.
But let the decent Muslims riot against these types, not make themselves riot over quotes that someone makes in a speech.
I say again If someone insults my God, he does not need me to riot for him, he is big enough to get them, "vengeance is mine saith the lord, I will recompense".

Muhammad (peace be upon him) never said anything like that..
n the verses ppl here r quoting r related to WAR... wut else do u do in war except for killin?????
anyways.... Jihad means to fight in the cause of Allah...
it can be to fight with ur own Nafs (worldly desires n wishes)
it can be to fight with the Pen.. that is to write against the tyrrants.. to aware the ppl of the bad things etc etc
it can be to figth with the sword.. so as to maintain peace .... for eg .. to fight against a tyrrant ruler,... to fight against those who r spreading hate n mischief in the land.... to fight against the opressors...
there r many examples of this type of jihad... n this only brought PEACE
for eg...
Mohd Bin Qasim fought against the Ruler of India Rja Dahir cuz he was a tyrrant ruler n opressed the lower castes!!! n this brought peace in the indo-pak subcontinent.. n they flourished in science n arts!!!!
Tariq Bin Ziad fought against the King of Spain who was also a tyrrant ruler ... n when the muslims came.. Spain flourished in Science, arts etc etc.. there were alone some 700 hospitals in one city in muslim spain at that time..

Myself i think that is a figure of speech, related to the time so as to enforce power of his words, but now adays it is taken literally .... I don't disbelieve that there was 2 people Mohamed and Jesus who were very convincing and influential to the weak minded, very clever people,,,,YES PEOPLE not gods or Messiah's , if you put David Blane back then he would be considered to be a God to the weak minded and a Devil to the strong minded, food for though I think....... cause for doubt or question how is your mind strong or weak?

The problem is that the Koran contradicts itself, saying "peace" at one time and "jihad" at another.

The burning effigies...the burning flags...the maches and chants of hate and death...the beheadings...the terrorism of others...the kidnappings of the innocent...the rhetoric of Israel's destruction and death to America...the over-exaggerated hateful reactions to those who do not share their views...
...to understand Islam takes little thought, I think...you can see it in action.
