Nope. Out of six billion people and only a few hundred (maybe few thousand) names, lots of people are going to share names.

The probability of this is going to follow a birthday-paradox distribution. The question in this scenario is, "Given any two people at random, and assuming birthdays are evenly distributed, what are the chances their birthday will be the same?" Given a limited number of names, and a huge number of people in comparison to that number of names, the birthday paradox comes into play. In this case, it's even MORE likely because Violet is a fairly common name of those few hundred or thousand names. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birthday_paradox )

Your daughter choosing Violet is just random chance playing tricks on you because, voila, you experenced it where millions of people didn't.

Now ask yourself -- you say you never mentioned Violet to your daughter. Considering the impact the woman obviously made on you, is it not more likely you may have said the name without even thinking about it, and your daughter, so prompted, without even thinking about it, picked the name? This phenomenon of unconscious prompting is fairly well researched.

Also, ask yourself this -- if the Violet you knew 'got her wings' as it were and was now serving as a guardian angel or had in fact been reborn as your daughter's baby, how mean it must have been for her to knowingly place this burden of an extremely underdeveloped infant on your daughters hands.

Further, your story makes no sense. You assert that 'Ms. Violet got her wings' and then in the next sentence question if this was reincarnation. If Ms. Violet got her wings, then she won the race, as it were, and wouldn't have been coming back at all.

Also, the heresy that humans become angels when they die is just that -- heresy. Nothing in the Bible supports this, and the Talmud only has one human doing so, and it acknowledges that as he was elevated, so was he demoted. According to Judeochristian teaching, angels were created as servants of God *AND* Man, and thus, for a human to become an angel is a severe demotion in standing. Why would you ask for such a thing upon a friend?

Reincarnation is a fact. And of course the baby Violet had a previous life and died and took up this body by mercy of God.

But your story does not prove that the soul of Lady Violet entered the child. Neither does Reincarnation leads to early birth with same bodily features. Bodily features are taken up mainly from the parents.

if she grows up, and remembers hers past life and states that she was Violet in her last birth we may consider that case.
But your comparison of this event to reincarnation is just coincidental.

Reincarnation means that something came back exactly the way it was when it left earth. Your story is not one of reincartion but of a spirit moving from one cactus to another. From one body to another. For whatever reason God allowed Violet's spirit to transend on your grand daughter. However, the name thing might be out of coincedence simply because our name go with our soul which is back to God. If you die and your daughter has another child and calls it by your name that doesn't mean that your spirit will be that of your grandchild not does it mean that it will not, But that is a different story.I hope that all is good with your granddaughter though.

If God did indeed put violet back on this earth there must have been a pretty good reason for it. I think that if this is the case you will begin to find many other things out as well.
