I dunno either. I live about 1/2 a mile from a jail and have absolutely no opinion of it. Who cares if you can find God in jail? It's not like they're a threat to anyone while they're in there. There's never been a prison break, and I certainly never felt threatened in my house. (In the time I've lived here, 4 years or so.)

Actually, living and working around a jail is the safest place to be because of all the police activity. I am a prison pastor and I can assure everyone that security is very tight around a jail or prison. Escapes do occur, but they are rare when compared to the number of inmates that move in and out of them. The only problem with having a jail near a school or airport is with released inmates---the security at the schools and airport would have to be beefed up a little to accommodate this particular security risk. The idea that jails are a terrorist risk is ridiculous. These kind of prisoners are not kept in city or county facilities, but in maximum security federal facilities.

Any time people want to associate something really horrible with a specific action or idea, they play the "terror" card.
I'm so sick of it by now, I immediately stop listening. Only people without a LEGITIMATE reason would bring up the "terror" factor.
Why isn't it enough to say, "putting a jail near a school is a bad idea."? There are many convincing reasons to NOT put a jail near a school. God isn't one of them... neither is terrorists.
People will say ANYTHING to get their way.

Dude I seriously don't know what that paragraph means. It's possible that the newpaper editors cut something out to make space, and now it doesn't quite make sense.
And it's also possible that this person just doesn't make sense on their own. Having a jail in your town does not equal terror attacks. Sounds like this person is just really uneducated.
I always love the attitude people have toward jails, landfills and WalMarts...."America needs more, but not in MY neighborhood."
Like you're somehow special and you shouldn't have to have bad things in your neighborhood.

Terrorists are usually taken to prisons out in the boondocks where they won't hurt anyone. Of course we don't want the jail near schools, but they can be put in lockdown if someone escapes.
Some of our greatest cases of people coming to faith are found in jails or prisons. They have time on their hands, and time to think.

Jails shouldn't be near schools because they bring down property values and bring low-lifes into the neighborhood. As for airports, if there aren't any deluxe hotels in that area, putting them by airports are fine, because those areas usually don't make good residential neighborhoods.
It must be nice to have someone channeling God for you all in your community.

Wow -- I'm constantly amazed by people who feel they can state their personal beliefs and insist they are speaking for God.
Only an anointed prophet can speak for God. No prophet will ever give "new" Scripture, nor will his or her words conflict with the Bible.
God wishes us all to repent and turn to Him. This includes prisoners, school teachers, students, pilots, passengers on planes ... and everyone else. So how can this person speak for God when He makes no distinction between sinners Himself?
So, to answer your question ... NO.
Peace.

Where do people get off speaking on God's behalf....Did he not speak for himself when he sent down messengers to give his advice, example and his wishes?
It's just ignorance.....the author of that statment clearly is outside his bounds.
People get so sensative when it comes to things like that, jails and where to put them. Maybe you could consider writing a letter to the editor expressing your opinion?

No, God doesn't think anything like that. Someone just decided to put words in His mouth. God doesn't worry about anything, least of all terrorists. Why should He? He is in control.

Until you give me a web adress where I can see this article myself immediately, I'm going to assume you made that up.
Just to be on the safe side.... if you didn't..... Hey, some people say stupid stuff. Not even Christians are immune to that.
