Arcade machine or console games, what was your favourite?

There's a few I would go for, maybe Echo the dolphin on the Mega Drive, maybe Project X (by Team 17) on the Amiga or maybe Street Fighter Turbo on the SNES!

What's yours?

Er, Arcade game would probably be the old X-Men machine from 1989-90. Great graphics, ate many of my quarters!

Console game, probably FFVI. I've bought copies of that game now on three systems and expect a fourth when it's released on GBA this winter.

You did say back in the day?!? Well then Frogger/Space Invaders on Atari

And this was before my first computer, a Commodore 64. Those games were a treat, you bought the big book of programs and typed in all of the code, 15-20 pages of code would net you a cool game like "guess the number/higher lower"

Back in the day indeed, LOL

had to be Space War arcade machine. Very few of them around back the (the 70s) but got to play occaisionally on the one at Shannon Airport (Ireland) which accepted irish coins and US ones (must have been for the tourists and stopover passengers, side effect of the US traffic was a good supply of US comics at the airport).

For thsoe who forget its the one with a central sun/planet and 2 space ships that fly around the central gravity well and battle it out. slingshot maneuvers round the centre were key to success.

the best 1st generation arcade game was by a company called epyx and was called "impossible mission" it was on the commodore 64,infact i still get it out every now and again to play
on the amiga it must go to combat air patrol,a game by the liverpool based company "pysnosis"
games consoles, well that must go to "metal gear solid"on the ps1,a classic game only ruined by too much of a short story
as for todays games well the pc game of the decade up to now has to go to "doom 3" i was only playing it yesterday and the game gets every single bit of power out of your graphic card,so you dont think you have wasted your money
